Overall a very nice stay. The corner room was comfortable and beautiful with a great view and the bathroom was fantastic. the rooftop is also very nice even though the menu and drinks were merely ok. Service is not 5 stars. We arrived at 3pm for check-in and the staff told us to wait as checkin is actually "as from" 3pm and had no idea when our room would be ready. This does not make any sense. Also they wouldn't take our luggage directly to the room. No espresso machine in the room. A bit far from the city and isolated even though I liked the view of the Brussels skyline.

+ : 1. Nice and interesting music and design. Really feels niesche 2. Good view and location, parking close. 3. The receptionist, Joe, was absolutely wonderful — very friendly, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. He consistently assisted me by bringing my deliveries up to my room, which made a big difference, especially while traveling with a baby. I truly appreciated his support and kindness throughout my stay. He makes a hotel feel like 5 stars :)(although he anyways sometimes knocked despite the “not disturb” sign on the door, that meant he woke my baby up). 4. Room cleaning - 1000 stars. Excellent. The younger lady cleaned our room on the 5th of may and I was really impressed. Baby can leave a lot of mess. The cleaning was spotless!! Bravo. 5. (!!!!) A special thank you to Fal (I hope I spell the name correctly) from the reception team. He was incredibly kind, professional and genuinely caring during my stay. He helped me move my things from another room, arranged a beautiful room with a wonderful bathtub for me, and made everything so comfortable and easy. Such a warm, pleasant and amazing person — people like him completely change the whole hotel experience. Honestly, this hotel might be one of the best things that happened to Brussels. I truly enjoyed my stay here so much. Thank you for the atmosphere, the care and the experience 🤍

Hotel rooms were pleasant. I would recommend Djo (pronounced Jo) who was super welcoming and friendly from the start before I even stepped through the door. He is a great representation of the team and I hope this is recognized - the hospitality and helpfulness received from him was outstanding. Rooms were nice. Be sure to ask about additional costs eg room service/mini-bar as its not too clear if you don't ask.

The Standard operates on the same frequency as every other hotel that has confused exclusivity with personality. Walking in feels like arriving at a cool girl's house party where you were technically invited but the vibe makes very clear that was probably an administrative error. Everyone is trying very hard to look like they are not trying at all, which is exhausting to witness and presumably even more exhausting to maintain. It is stylish, yes. The bones are there. The building itself is genuinely well designed, and the rooftop being shared with the office building above is actually one of the more interesting architectural choices, giving the whole thing a sense of place that the crowd inside somewhat fails to live up to. The view is lovely. Credit where it is due. The rooms are nice to look at and deeply impractical to actually live in. Storage is essentially a concept rather than a feature, which is fine for a one night stay and a quiet disaster if you are there for longer with anything resembling luggage. Form has won decisively over function and unpacked suitcases on the floor are apparently part of the aesthetic. The location is genuinely good, which helps. Though in all honesty, at this price point and for this level of actual comfort, there are better options in the city that will not make you feel like an afterthought in your own hotel room. What is harder to forgive than the atmosphere is the gap between what The Standard says it stands for and what it actually does. The brand has made considerable noise before opening and during opening about community, neighbourhood integration, being a space for everyone. What you actually find is a hotel that has planted itself in a neighbourhood, looked at the people who live there, including those in social housing nearby, and proceeded to design every single thing about the experience to make clear they are not the intended guest. Not subtly. Quite openly. There is a particular kind of cynicism in a hotel group with the reach and resources of The Standard choosing to dress gentrification up in the language of inclusion. Saying you want to embrace the neighbourhood while building something that actively pushes it out is not a communication problem. It is a values problem. The legacy of this brand deserves better than becoming a very expensive mirror for people who already spend enough time looking at themselves.

They ask for 100 EURO per night as deposit upon checkin (26th Sept, 2025). So for my 4 nights it was a 400 Euro deposit! There is no way in hell that I could have used up that much from the room refrigerator every single day! The hotel staff were also not able to handle a simple request to deduct room charges from one Credit Card and place the hold on 400 Euro on another, causing a lot of confusion later that needed required multiple followups. That was quite inconvenient. The location in a good place close to Gare Du Nord station. I stayed here for 4 nights. Commute to and from the hotel to the city or around the city is easy. Its also located reasonably close to food, groceries and a mall (800m). The room was large and had a nice view on the 16th Floor. But the room is suboptimally designed. There is no space to keep luggage in the room despite the fact that the room is of decent size and much larger than other hotels.
