Save your money. The photos may look nice, but the quality of the hotel is awful. They charge extra “money-grab” fees at check-in, including a $5 per day, per room amenity fee. We stayed for 6 days with 3 rooms total, so those fees added up quickly, do the math. On the first night, the bed frame in one of our rooms collapsed and broke. When we informed the front desk, the employee’s first response was, “Is that the wobbly bed?” That made it seem like the staff already knew the bed was an issue and still rented the room out anyway. Even after switching rooms, the new bed frame was still crooked, and parts of it stuck out past the mattress. Both coffee machines broke during our stay, and only one elevator worked the entire time. The washer and dryer also cost extra to use, despite already paying the amenity fee. Housekeeping would take our dirty towels but would not replace them unless we specifically asked. The breakfast looked and tasted like it had been made the night before and left sitting out. The room keys constantly stopped working for no reason. I probably had to replace mine six different times during the stay. Our room also had a terrible odor upon arrival, like something had been left rotting under the bed. There were sagging spots in the hallway floor on the 4th floor, which was concerning. The pool room door would not unlock, so we had to track down an employee and prop the door open with a towel so it would not latch again. One of the employees was even smoking a cigarette inside the building while doing laundry in the laundry room. While the staff was generally friendly, the hotel itself is not maintained nearly as well as the photos make it appear. There also seemed to be a constant flow of people coming and going who did not appear to be hotel guests. Half the time, it was difficult to tell who actually worked there and who was simply hanging around with employees.
This was by far the worst hotel experience we have ever had. We booked over a month in advance and specifically requested a double queen room. At the time of booking, we were reassured that this is what we would receive. However, when the confirmation email came through, it showed a king room instead. When I called to clarify, the representative told me the system on my end was incorrect and confirmed that on their end, we were absolutely booked for a double queen. I was also told there was a discrepancy due to a management change and issues with their online system. I chose to trust that reassurance. Unfortunately, when my family and I arrived, we were given a king room—and were told the hotel was completely sold out, so they could not accommodate the double queen we had booked. This was extremely frustrating, especially traveling with children. I do want to acknowledge that the front desk receptionist was wonderful. She truly tried her best to help and provided a rollaway bed for our kids, which we appreciated. However, the experience with management completely overshadowed that. When we attempted to speak with the manager, Crystal, she was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. She refused to apologize, offered no accountability, and did not provide any form of compensation, refund, or reasonable solution to the issue. To make matters worse, the room itself was not clean. The sheets were visibly stained, the pillows were uncomfortable, and overall the room felt dirty and poorly maintained. Between the booking issues, lack of accountability, poor cleanliness, and unprofessional management, this was an incredibly disappointing stay. And the pool? Forget about it, it has been in renovation for YEARSSSSS. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and would never stay here again.
Lol, ok hear this. So after 10 hours of driving and finally stopping to rest. We land here in Kalamazoo right around noon. Called to ask for an early check in. And was told no at first, then said they could make it work. We arrive 10 mins later. Decided to smoke our “MEDICINAL CANNABIS” prior to checking in. We are then told that we smell of weed and was denied checkin until 3. How absurd is that!? Sounds like a personal issue…… (Update. Her name was Perla, however after being here and speaking with the manager and other employees. Not bad at all, spacious and clean room, cheaper and better than any other option. I recommend………………………. Just avoid Perla)
Working out of town, so staying in a reasonably priced, and clean, working hotel is very important. This is my second week at this location, and 3rd week with this chain. Week 1 on the West side of Kzoo, room and service as to be expected. No surprises or negative feedback. Week 2, price was better at the east location, so I went there. Again, to be expected except my microwave didn't work. Normally not a big deal, but trying to save money I packed all my meals for the week as opposed to eating out. Kinda hard to heat up your dinner with no microwave. I made the staff aware of this on monday shortly after checking in, and when I left thursday there was still no attempt to change the microwave out for a working one. Room 227. Thankfully there was a microwave downstairs where they serve breakfast. Also a stink bug crawled on my face in the middle of the night, EW. Bugs are unavoidable though so I just washed my face after getting rid of it and went back to sleep. No other issues that week. Week 3 tried the east location again, as the price was better again. From moment 1 it was an improvement to last week. Until I woke up at 5am to start getting ready for work today. Went pretty normal until I went to change into work clothes, when a mouse went flying from under the dresser to under the bed. I noped out of that room so fast. Went to the front desk where a polite gentleman switched me rooms. Mouse in room 320, switched to room 323. No discount or compensation of any kind which was kind of odd. I understand vermin are almost impossible to get rid of entirely, but you'd think that they'd want to keep guest satisfaction up. So here I am. I will stay the rest of the week, but after this I will likely never return to a Sleep Inn.
DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! Would give 0 stars if I could. Room was worn down and the cleanliness was absolutely unacceptable. Mouse FECES found in all THREE beds in my room. Not to mention garbage behind most of the furniture, toothpaste on the doorframe of the bathroom, the kitchen area was VISUALLY dirty. Floor clearly was not vacuumed, found nail clippings and other trash scattered around the edges of the floors. Only received 1/2 off my room, even though I had to STRIP AND CHANGE THE SHEETS AND PILLOWS for the beds due to the mouse FECES and even wiped down the surfaces. When I brought this up to the night auditor and GM they genuinely lacked concern but expressed "confusion" because the room was used and cleaned recently. Absolutely awful in all aspects. The mouse FECES found in all 3 beds in the room caused me to also get breakfast elsewhere. When I received the email to rate my stay, the "Share Feedback" link didn't work, but I could click on everything else. 0/10 absolutely will not be back and WOULD NOT recommend.
