James3 weeks agoI will admit, I'm somewhat (slightly) a conspiracy theorist when it comes to believing we have actually been to the moon. 😀 But, it was fun seeing all of the spacecraft and movie set props they have on display. There was one vehicle that broke the speed of sound at over 1200mph! Now I'm questioning why don't we have high speed rail on the US?! Overall it was a fun experience with great educational information.
Joe Burgessa month agoThis museum is amazing from the beginning of space exploration to now. They have authentic items. Spacecraft interactive exhibits very helpful employees and guides. I spent hours here. It was just totally engrossing. Fascinating educational. A large gift shop with lots of cool things related. A grade school class of children were here and they enjoyed it immensely. Bring your family hey!
Lincoln Glab3 months agoThis is a great aerospace museum. SR-71 in the lobby, Liberty Bell 7!? In the middle of Kansas?! Great to see. Worth the drive and cost of admission. Great exhibits and layout. Do NOT skip the cafeteria! I thought it’d be simple museum cafe food, but it is not. It is hand prepared and hand cooked restaurant quality food. I can honestly say that if I were in Hutchinson again, I would go to the Cosmosphere just for lunch. Great museum, and phenomenal food!! Can’t wait to come back!!
Redacted Information6 months agoThis has been one of my all time favorite museums my entire life. After revisiting after two decades, I am not disappointed. This museum has the largest collection of Soviet and American flown spacecraft in the world, largest collection of flown Soviet space craft outside of Moscow, and the second largest collection of flown US spacecraft outside of Washington. There are great summer camps, classes and activities for kids, and more. Everything is a flown artifact, a genuine backup (Sputnik 1 for example), or a full-scale recreation. Their SpaceWorks restores artifacts for museums around the world, and works with Hollywood set designers for blockbuster films. This is truly a world class museum, and the only Smithsonian Partner in Kansas. It's surprising such an impactful and world class museum is nestled away in little ole Hutchinson Kansas. It's a great getaway for adults and children alike! You know you're somewhere special when the first thing you're greeted by on entry is a flown SR-71 Blackbird. My favorite exhibit is the German exhibit. There is a genuine V-1, V-2 Buzz Bomb, and a genuine ME-163 Komit engine in a sub-basement that is styled to look like a WW2 Bunker. For people who have mobility issues; this museum is fully handicapped accessable! There are elevators and wheelchair lifts.
Gabriel Guaranya month agoWent to see Jon Anderson and The Band Geeks. It was awesome. Easy to park, to find, great staff. They have good popcorn and beverages. The theater and the sound was on point. I had an wonderful evening.
