The bartender is clearly passionate about what he does, I love having a custom cocktail offered as it shows the willingness to be creative. I had a couple of off-menu creations, as the bartender had me intrigued by both the pear syrup and the beer syrup he’d recently made! He was personable and made drinks with care, ensuring that if we didn’t like something we could get something else. I enjoyed every drink I got and liked the relaxed environment with good jams on. I would love to come back to try more.
Jason Granados9 months agoHad an absolutely fantastic experience at James & Rye in Wichita, KS! Julian, the bartender, was phenomenal. His drink making skills are top-notch, crafting cocktails that were both creative and delicious. He was incredibly kind, attentive, and made sure every customer felt welcomed. The owner Bobby, was also hands-on helping out behind the bar and ensuring everyone was taken care of. The vibe is calm and inviting, perfect for a relaxing night out. Their happy hour specials are an absolutely fantastic making it even easier to love this place. Highly recommend!
Karl Denesha6 months agoWow, what a great bar! All the attitude of a new bar but opened 8 months prior. My wife and I went together on 1/28. We were NOT disappointed. I ordered the Rye, which was half off on Wednesdays, and the bartender asked my wife what she wanted and made it to her specific tastes. Taking the time to listen specifically to her means a lot. Over the next hour, we ate an amazing charcuterie board, free popcorn, drank a slightly sweeter Old Fashioned, and another Rye. Bartender, 'King' Julian, sat with us and updated us on everything that was going on. It was our first visit, and it felt first day opening, kind of special. Julian listened to Ideas, thoughts and just random conversations that popped into my head. He could have passed as a part owner and operator. His ownership of his craft, local business employee, and personality, are bar none. He is one that really sets the bar on how to treat customers. Was a bit chilly and the other bartender saw me standing under the warm vent, and offered to move our Bartop over so that we would be more comfortable while seated. Minimal food available, but they do bring in the charcuterie boards regularly. 100% everywhere else!
Chris M10 months agoNo food was available which was disappointing since we arrived at 4 for a bourbon tasting (over priced for a 20 minute experience with minimal information about the bourbon and no opportunity to purchase a bottle) and stayed for the 6pm trivia which was highly entertaining. As a whole the front is well done with decent options. By 630 the 4 of us had killed one brand of red wine and moved on to some that was not very good. After trivia we left for food, the seating is comfortable, bar staff exceptionally fun, bathrooms are clean. We may try again because of the bar staff but won't plan to stay as long.
