For more than 65 years, the Loveless Cafe has been offering families and friends a place where they can enjoy a scratch-made Southern meal and reconnect with each other around the table. Our story starts in 1951 when Lon and Annie Loveless opened their front doors to serve fried chicken and biscuits to hungry travelers on Highway 100. Their homemade Southern dishes became so popular that they converted their home into a restaurant and built a 14-room motel for overnight guests. Lon stayed busy managing the motel and curing and smoking country hams, while Annie whipped up made-from-scratch biscuits and preserves in the kitchen. Given these roots of big-hearted hospitality and a mouth-watering menu, it is no wonder that the Loveless Cafe has become a Nashville landmark. Our iconic neon sign welcomes more than half a million visitors a year who are seeking a chance to slow down and savor home-cooked meals. We stay true to our Southern flavor and serve up meals that fuel conversation, laughter and love. Our guests are our family and there is nothing we enjoy more than to see them return, year over year. So many people come to taste the biscuits that put us on the map that we’re now making up to 10,000 every day! Since the early days with Lon and Annie, we’ve continued to add new ways for visitors to enjoy the Loveless Cafe while always staying true to our roots. The motel rooms that Lon managed are now quaint shops full of signature gifts for visitors to take home. For larger gatherings, we have added two event spaces – the Barn and the Harpeth Room – where the Loveless Events team infuses our distinctive Southern hospitality into creating one-of-a-kind weddings, celebrations, meetings and more. The dedicated catering team also goes on the road, bringing our broad talents to kitchens, offices and venues throughout the Nashville area. Stories about the Loveless Cafe continue to be told around the world. We’re humbled and flattered to have received the following acknowledgments: USA Today named us the “Top Down-Home Dining Spot” and one of the “10 Great Places to get a Southern-style Biscuit.” Southern Living named the Cafe one of the “Five Must-See Sights in Nashville,” in addition to “Favorite Southern Dives” and the “South’s Best Breakfast Spots.” Taste of the South magazine included us as one of the “35 Iconic Southern Restaurants,” saying we serve the “South’s Best Pies.” The Atlanta Journal-Constitution included the Cafe as one of the “8 Restaurants to Try if you Want a Taste of Nashville.” The Tennessean called the Cafe’s pulled pork sandwich one of the top 5 in Nashville, a city full of legendary barbecue joints. Thrillest online said the Loveless Cafe is one of “Nashville’s Best BBQ Joints.” The TV cameras just love the Loveless Cafe too, from The Today Show to CBS News to Ellen DeGeneres to the Martha Stewart Show. We love representing the South and sharing some Southern hospitality with national television audiences. Perhaps one of the most exciting nights for the Loveless Cafe was in 2013 when the famed James Beard House in New York City invited our team to serve a “Loveless Valentine’s Dinner” to its guests. Our team’s culinary presentation of five courses of authentic Southern favorites thrilled the sophisticated palates of New Yorkers. We were honored to be chosen to represent the heart and soul of Southern cuisine by serving the delicious food that has made the Loveless Cafe a culinary destination. Brian Diblea month agoAbsolutely loved this place. Was visiting relatives in Franklin and wanted to try the Loveless. Luckily she knew how busy they get, especially on Sundays and made reservations for us. The biscuits really are delicious and are served with 3 different jams complimentary with the meals. I went with the meatloaf, which was amazing, the hashbtown casserole, which was excellent and the mac and cheese, which was mediocre at best. I tried the brisket my girlfriend got and it was amazing as well. Will definitely make another visit whenever back in the area again.
N Ma month agoLove this restaurant off the main road. Reminds me of the old motels like in the movie Psycho but this restaurant is not creepy. Loveless cafe is very quaint and welcoming and it’s basically a house turn into restaurant with a couple of gift shops on the property. Our server was Chaz and he was very efficient and friendly and made our dining experience enjoyable. I ordered the chicken fried steak, creamed corn and hash browns and it was delicious, the fried steak was cooked perfectly and easy to cut into and the breading didn’t fall apart from the steak! We also ordered the southern omelet and hamburger and a breakfast dish. Everything was delicious. And of course the topper was the buttery biscuits! So delicious and we would definitely come back when we pass through next time.
April Lauren5 months agoThe Loveless Cafe is an absolute must-stop in Tennessee! Everything about our visit was fantastic — the food, the atmosphere, and the true Southern comfort vibe that makes this place so iconic. We started with the fried green tomatoes, and WOW… perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with flavor. Then we tried the bologna sandwich, and it was hands-down one of the best I’ve ever had — thick-cut, perfectly cooked, and served exactly the way a classic Southern sandwich should be. The grilled chicken salad was also excellent — fresh, hearty, and a great lighter option that still felt satisfying. And the desserts… I’m still thinking about them. The coconut cream pie was to die for — rich, creamy, and absolutely perfect. But the real showstopper was the banana pudding… seriously the kind you dream about. Smooth, sweet, homemade goodness that tastes like pure Southern tradition. If you’re anywhere near Nashville, The Loveless Cafe is worth the trip. Come hungry, because you’ll want to try everything!

From the welcoming you get when you arrive, to the servers knowledge and expertise (shout out to Megan M!!) you feel at home and ready to make the right choice for your meal. The biscuits and jam are fabulous. Warm, buttery and soft; they are the perfect thing to start your meal. I had fried chicken, the sweet corn and fried green tomatoes (DO NOT skip the pimento cheese). Everything was fresh, hit and served quickly with a smile! I will absolutely be stopping again!
R Canatella2 months agoWe tried this place for breakfast while in the area. We were greeted as soon as we entered and seated right away. Our server Hannah came by and got our drink orders. They brought some biscuits and homemade jellies and jams. The biscuits were delicious with and without the jams. I ordered the Famous Loveless Cafe Country Ham with Red-Eye Gravy which was very good. The Red-Eye Gravy was perfect. My partner ordered the Fried Catfish with hushpuppies, cooked to perfection. The homemade tartar sauce was fantastic. Johnathan came by to check on how our meal and experience was going. We found the restaurant clean as well as the restrooms. We will definitely return the next time in the area.
