Edit: A manager called me again and said that on their end from a door test, it shows we didn’t close the door. She offered to send me a phone charger. I understand what they are saying. We did check the door and the door lock was clearly out when we returned which it wouldn’t have been if we just closed it. Our things were gone through. I will not be staying at this hotel again. But I do wish them the very best. Edit: Yes, please feel free to reach out to me and I will update my experience here after our interaction. My best friend and I stayed here in May for one night as we were passing through KC. It was very clean, beautiful, and a great location. I love Marriott’s. We got to the hotel around 3pm in the afternoon and left around 4pm for dinner. When we got back to our hotel at 10pm our room had been broken into. We didn’t have any valuables in our room so only a phone charger was taken. Our things were all over the room. We called the front desk and they put us in another room. They were very quick and we appreciated that. We asked for a refund the next morning. The manager told us they did a lock test on the door and we didn’t lock the door correctly so they would not be offering a refund. We are both obsessive type A girlies, so we did double check the door when we left and we know the door was locked. We didn’t argue with him in person and left. The evening was scary staying there after the break in and we felt unsupported by this interaction. It felt like a white man telling two women that they made a mistake, so there would be no support after all of our personal belongings had been gone through. I was not impressed by the lack of support and concern.
This is a nice place to stay in the city. Very comfy and spacious rooms, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The only reason I gave it four stars was the parking was a bit of a hassle. We had gone to lunch after checking out and when we returned, the parking pass had expired even though it was not close to being a 24 hour period. If they want to end the parking pass as soon as you check out, they need to pro rate it for that last day instead of charging for a full day.
This is one of the best hotels we’ve stayed at and we travel a lot (surpassing 1,000 nights Marriott, 500+ Hilton, and 200+ Hyatt) so we always compare hotels from customer service to overall look of the hotel lobby, bar, restaurant quality to hallways, rooms and bed comfort. Front desk staff super friendly. The girl who greeted us when we checked in had the best disposition. Even the valet The Bar at this hotel is the best - so many TVs all around and large size TVs to watch games. Bartenders are super friendly and outgoing. Food selection was good. Hallways were clean and in good condition, rooms were clean and comfortable. Location is great, just short walk to Power Light district and Crown plaza to many restaurants in the area.
My room is unfortunately right next to the elevators so it is a bit difficult to sleep since I'm such a light sleeper. Regardless of that, I have a great view on the 21st floor and the room is clean, comfortable, and well-appointed. It would be nice to have a microwave but didn't really need one myself. The cleaning staff has been wonderful as well. The highlight of this trip, however, is Rance. He is the one that did check-in and has helped me many times during this stay. He's friendly, professional, helpful, and funny! I do wish that coffee and a small breakfast was complimentary but with how big this hotel is that is probably not feasible. The coffee shop opens at 6 am and the people are really nice. The breakfast is a bit expensive for what it is but it is delicious and the staff are terrific! The bar/restaurant is good and they stay busy. I don't remember the bartender's name but he's honestly the best I've witnessed. He has a great memory, is fast, does multiple things all of the time, is friendly, and makes delicious drinks. Anyway, great experience, minus the elevator noise in my room. The star of the trip was Rance though!
After I was settled in my room, unpacked and getting ready for bed, I noticed the toilet leaking. I called maintenance, they came and tried to fix it. It wasn't fixed. Water all over the floor. I called and they came up again, this time telling me I needed to move rooms. I am temporarily physically disabled and was offered no help or voucher for a drink even. The front desk team was snippy and rude. Be sure to ask to avoid the elevators- they are incredibly loud here. The main lobby and main areas are doused in air freshener, comes out of the vents. If youre sensitive to smells, do not stay here. I expected a better experience from a Marriott.
