Stately hotel, impeccable service, and my kids love the little rocking chairs in front of the tv showing Mickey cartoons. We were upgraded to a pool view upon checking in and adored the cast member who helped us. She bejeweled a birthday pin for my oldest and shared stories since she’s been with the hotel for many years. Really wish I could remember her name! Loved the restaurant options from hearthstone lounge to storytellers cafe and Napa rose, all on site. The gift shop has GCH specific pins with chip and dale, which my oldest pin collecting child loved. All in a great stay and can’t get more convenient than this. Only bummer is the discontinuation of early entry - hopefully they bring that back!
Highly recommend! Lizbeth at the pool went above and beyond - not to mention the pool is gorgeous. Taylor and the team at Storytellers Cafe create a magical character dining experience - shout out Dale & Minnie! The entire staff makes this beautiful hotel even better.
We recently stayed at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, and the best way I can describe it is this: a true well-oiled machine where every detail feels intentional. We were here for my husband’s company event, and I had the pleasure of being his guest and what a gift that turned out to be. Every single person I encountered was genuinely kind, helpful, and seemed happy to be there. You can feel that they truly care about the guest experience, and it shows in everything they do. I treated myself to an 80-minute hot stone aromatherapy massage at the spa, and it was absolutely lovely. The space was peaceful, the staff were warm and attentive, and I enjoyed time in the steam room beforehand and tea in the relaxation room afterward. It felt like a full reset. But the true standout of our stay was Maury at the concierge desk. I’ll be honest I didn’t plan well. I didn’t realize how important it was to secure park tickets in advance, especially with the Food & Wine Festival happening. I was genuinely stressed thinking I might miss out on something I had been looking forward to for years. Maury stepped in with such calm, kindness, and efficiency. Not only did he help me secure a park hopper ticket so I could experience both parks, but he made the entire process feel easy and taken care of. When he first got my ticket for me, he even gave me a button to wear in the park and a paper ticket to keep as a souvenir such a thoughtful touch that made the experience feel extra special from the start. Later, when I had to leave my selfie stick behind (lesson learned!), he graciously held onto it for me. When I returned, he went above and beyond again this time surprising me with a signed Ariel autograph card and a sweet candy set. It was completely unexpected and genuinely made my day. What stood out most is that even as an adult visiting without kids, Maury made me feel like the magic was just as much for me. He reminded me to enjoy, to have fun, and to reconnect with that sense of wonder. That kind of experience stays with you. Because of him and the overall care and excellence of this hotel I will absolutely be back. This trip reminded me why so many adults return to Disney again and again… and now I get it.
Disneyland, California Hotel is an oasis at Disneyland. The hotel itself is fashioned in the craftsman style and beautiful worth just walking through the lobby. Inside you will find a new in different world where you feel like you’ve gone back in time to a place like Yosemite, the attention to detail as you can imagine is amazing. Disney never does a bad job when it comes to creating memories and incredible spaces. The rooms are beautiful, well appointed and quiet while the lobby can get busy during the day with children and families meeting up. It’s always an amazingly beautiful place to sit and relax and people watch inside the hotels property. There are many restaurants and a beautiful pool. It’s centrally located so that you can go to both downtown Disney, and you have your own entrance into California adventure. The staff is very well trained and very attentive to any of your needs. You have all kinds of options for the rooms that you can reserve from single rooms all the way up to suites.
We are very disappointed with our stay so far at Disney’s Grand Californian. Our room had visible black mold/mildew growth along the ceiling and wall seam, which is completely unacceptable for a hotel at this price point. The issue appeared extensive enough to suggest an ongoing moisture problem rather than a small cosmetic stain. Beyond looking unsanitary, it made us uncomfortable staying in the room and raised concerns about air quality and cleanliness standards. For a property that markets itself as a luxury Disney hotel, we expected much better maintenance and attention to guest safety. We notified the hotel immediately and are having to wait for them to figure out where to put us. So disappointed as this is for our daughter’s birthday.
