  As a first timer to the area I was pleasantly surprised how centrally located this hotel is. It's literal steps away from Country Club Plaza and a 10-15 minute drive to downtown and so many attractions. Before arrival I experienced 24hrs of flight delays which caused me to arrive at 4am instead of noon like a planned. I'd been speaking to the manager all day since my flight was first delayed and even though the late check-in policy is 3am the manager waited for me beyond her shift. She even offered a complimentary drink ticket because it was officially my birthday. As a type A planner who despises being late her demeanor and kindness melted away the stresses of the day and I was overwhelmingly grateful. Every room has a balcony, fluffy white robes and most comfortable beds! The only note I would leave is that they should do some deep cleaning of their carpets and housecleaning only gave me new towels but did not make my bed once even though I was there for 3 days. The lobby area is beautiful and spacious, complete with a baby grand piano and fireplace. I had their buffet style breakfast with the BEST biscuits I've ever had in my life!! I had to ask the waitress about the chef who I learned was from the South, which I can appreciate. For dinner I had their Shrimp Arancini, KC Strip Steak and their chocolate torte which were all phenomenal. The bartenders also made the most delicious mocktails for me and their vibe and energy were so welcoming. Overall this was a great stay, I ran into to some amazing people and this location for a conference/birthday celebration was perfect.

  We had a lovely stay at the Plaza last night to enjoy the lights at the Country Club Plaza. The room was spacious and clean, the check in easy and friendly. The front desk followed up via text to make sure our room was what we hoped for! Good in room coffee but real creamers would have been nice with the Keirig! Bed was comfortable, plenty of outlets and nice smelling bottled bath amenities. Cozy bar and patio off the lobby. Can't beat the location!

  Stayed at the InterContinental Kansas City at the Plaza on Monday night for a little KC getaway and had a great experience. The location is hard to beat — right on the Plaza with so many restaurants, shops, and things to do nearby. The hotel was clean, upscale, and comfortable, and the staff was very welcoming and helpful. Our room was spacious with an amazing view, and the beds were incredibly comfortable after a long night out. Perfect place for a date night or concert trip to Kansas City. We’ll definitely stay again next time we’re in town!

  I recently had a disappointing experience at the Intercontinental Hotel that I feel compelled to share, particularly concerning the lack of security surrounding the parking garage. On the evening of November 5, 2025, my vehicle was stolen just two hours after I checked in. This incident has led me to question the hotel’s claims of adequate on-site security and proper precautions. I was assured upon check-in that my vehicle would be safe, yet the rapid theft of my car raises serious concerns about the effectiveness of these security measures. To make matters worse, I was not informed about previous vehicle thefts occurring on the property this year. This lack of transparency is unacceptable, especially considering the premium rates guests pay for a supposed secure environment. The negligence of the hotel staff further exacerbates my frustrations. They failed to collect my vehicle information at check-in, leaving me to wonder how long it would have taken for me to find out about the theft had I not checked the garage myself the next morning. Alarmingly, the theft was only reported to the police at 8 a.m. the following day, despite clear evidence that a problem had occurred, including a broken exit arm in the parking garage. Moving forward, I would like to know how General Manager Jeff Keeley plans to address this situation and what steps the hotel will take to improve security and transparency. It is crucial for the Intercontinental Hotel to uphold its promises regarding guest safety and comfort. The misrepresentation of your property’s security measures has caused significant distress, and I hope to see meaningful action taken to rectify this situation. ***** Note to add that the response from the General Manager regarding the "active review of our current security procedures" closely mirrors the remarks made to another guest approximately eleven months ago, following the theft of their vehicle. It is concerning that, despite this prior assurance, no significant changes appear to have been implemented in the intervening period.

  I’ve been staying at the InterContinental on the Country Club Plaza every time I return to my hometown of Kansas City since the early 2000s, and it has always felt like home. The service is consistently excellent, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the location truly cannot be beat. Being right on the Plaza puts you in the heart of everything, and the hotel somehow manages to feel both vibrant and relaxing at the same time. After all these years, it remains my go-to place to stay in Kansas City and continues to set the standard for what a great hotel experience should be.
