  This place is an absolute gem in downtown San Antonio when it comes to hotels. The staff a+ The housekeeping staff a+ Security guards a+ Valet folks a+ The broken ice machine on my floor d- This place has heritage. It has nostalgia. It has class it oozes feng shui. I don't think I even use that word right?? The fact that they have over a thousand vinyl records that you can check out and bring back to your room and sit and relax. Listening to Old vinyl just takes this to a different level. The rooms are comfortable and modern yet art deco-ish. The bathroom layout was kind of weird and the sink was very small and cramped. So if you have a shaving bag or maybe even a small makeup pouch it ain't going to fit on this sink. It's going to fit in the sink but not around it. Also, the floor tiles in the shower are a tad bit slick.. please be careful when dropping the soap, you may slip and have to call and say that you've fallen and can't get up.

  This is now the fourth time we have stayed at the newly inspired and renovated Gunter and it is our all time favorite hotel in San Antonio. The rooms are spectacular, the public spaces are breathtaking and the historical music association theme is very well executed. Each room has a turntable. Yes, you read that. A turntable. And there is a "vinyl library in the lobby" where a vinyl concierge will help you make a selection based on your musical tastes. Both the lobby bar and the 414 Speakeasy are comfortable with excellently crafted coctails and a very friendly staff. Paris Baguette off the lobby is the perfect go to for breakfast or lunch. The location of the hotel is fantastic and there is ample, inexpensive parking all around in the city parking garages along with Valet parking at the hotel itself. We will be back soon and often.

  We celebrated our wedding anniversary. Rooms had an extra benefit, jazz and blues LP's with a vinyl albumn player. Tight space where the sink is located. We loved the fell of the room. Front desk was helpful. However my wife, senior citizen, fell in the Jots restaurant. The step down going from inside to patio is marked with a faded yellow sticker. She did not see it. She was hurt on her left side, nothing broken. Restaurant manager and staff were great to assist and gave her ice and free breakfast next day. Upon checkout we asked for the manager. He didnot come to talk to us. We were told by front desk gentleman to expect a call from Assistant General Manager. No call as of today, 5-30. So that is why they are getting a three, no followup to see if she is good.

  Loved the renovations on the Gunter hotel, reminds me of the days I used to stay here when I was little. Everything was great from the service to the rooms and finally the valet. The valet guys made a great first impression of the hotel, especially Joe. He made sure to help us with our luggage and made it clear on how the app worked. Could not have asked for a better stay. Location was also great in the middle of downtown, near the river walk and a great restaurants.
