This resort has become one of our family’s favorite getaway spots, and after staying here several times over the last three years, we already plan on returning again this summer. For families in the Houston area, it’s such an easy vacation that feels relaxing from the moment you arrive. The lazy river is definitely the main attraction and never gets old, but the new lagoon that just opened is an amazing addition to the resort. The entire property is laid out so peacefully, making it easy to unwind while still having plenty to do. One of the best parts is that you truly never have to leave the resort during your stay. Everything you need is right there — family-friendly activities, beautiful grounds, and upscale restaurants that make the experience feel elevated without losing the relaxed vacation vibe. Antlers Lodge, Charlie’s Long Bar, and the Springhouse Cafe all have the best mashed potatoes. Yes, it’s pricey, but honestly, worth every penny. The atmosphere, amenities, and overall experience keep bringing us back year after year.

I have been coming to this hotel for years now. Weeks, days, weekends spent there. Although they continue to invest in cool outdoor attractions, they are more and more distant to what a higher scale resort should be. Food is simple.. drinks blah.. All seems to be high volume made and the staff, with a few exceptions, seems to be ok with that. Bikes used to be charged as part of the resort fee, now you pay for them (if the rack system is working). Food used to be great. But they have a cool big pool...

Stayed 4 nights at Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and Spa while checking out the resort for a future event, and this is truly a family resort. Check-in was smooth and I was upgraded to a Retreat Room on the 4th floor. As a Hyatt Globalist, I received complimentary breakfast each morning along with the room upgrade, which was appreciated. However, I was surprised there was no welcome amenity in the room, especially for a resort at this level. The property recently completed a massive $100 million renovation and added impressive new amenities including the stunning lagoon and expanded event spaces. The room itself was spacious and well appointed. However, for a room category marketed as an “upgraded” experience, it felt like it was missing true premium touches. I personally would not pay extra for the Retreat Room upgrade. Turndown service never happened, the gold bathroom fixtures were already showing noticeable wear, there were no upgraded toiletries, and the morning offering of small croissants didn’t really justify the Retreat branding. That said, the floor was quiet and relaxing. Just note that weekends here are extremely busy with events and families, so expect a lively atmosphere. The food throughout the resort was very good with plenty of restaurant options. On Friday and Saturday nights they offer a dinner buffet that is totally worth it, but definitely get there right when it opens at 5:30 PM or you will likely be waiting a long time for a table. The lazy river, pools, and spas were inviting, and the huge new lagoon is absolutely stunning — perfect for hot Texas days with lots of family activities and event space integrated throughout the area. The spa itself was peaceful and very relaxing, especially the adults-only spa pool area where I could unwind without kids around. One of the best parts of the property is the surrounding landscape. The area is beautiful with wildlife and nature all around you, and honestly you never really need to leave the resort during your stay. One major drawback for me was the gym. For a resort this large, the fitness center felt surprisingly small and somewhat outdated. I wish more investment had gone into expanding the gym and upgrading the equipment. Uber drop-off and pickup was very easy and convenient. I also had a small issue with my room, but the team fixed it immediately and the customer service throughout the stay was excellent. The staff here clearly takes pride in delivering great service. Overall, this is truly a fantastic family-focused resort. Would I return? Yes — especially if staying in the area again. Bonus location points: SeaWorld San Antonio is only about 10 minutes away, while Six Flags Fiesta Texas is roughly 25 minutes from the resort.

First time in San Antonio Hyatt, this place is great. We are here for family vacation with two young kids. My kids love the lagoon and the lazy river. The staff are nice and the place is clean. This resort is in the heart of the city, we don't have to drive very far to go to places. We will be back again.

Great clean resort however I gave it 4 stars because the new lagoon is not what we expected. It's beautiful however guests are only allowed to go so deep, guessing ~3.5 FT. It's roped off. The lagoon at deepest I believe is ~8ft however people can not swim in the deep. The deep area is reserved for kayaks and paddle boards. So with older teen age kids, unless you are paying for the rentals there really isn't much to do. It's perfect for families with little ones because they play in the sand. We ended up at the lazy river and pools But HYATT Hill Country should specify that on their website.
