The hotel really needs some room repairs and some deep cleaning in the rooms. Wall paper peeling, missing tiles, and bleached spots on the wallpaper. It was probably surface clean, but overall rundown. Staff were bus and check-in was messed up and we ended up having move rooms to get the adjoining rooms we had been promised. It took about an hour from out first point of check in the actually get the new rooms. Parking garage elevator was broken. Also there is no security lock on the elevator so anyone can walk off the street and up to the rooms. Great if you want Uber Eats delivered to your room though. Breakfast is a $25 (plus tax and tip!) buffet, that at other hotels would be a free buffet.

When checking in, front desk asked if I parked in garage. I said yes and that was the end of the conversation. When we left we asked if we needed to leave room keys there front desk lady said yes. When we left parking garage hotel staff just happened to be passing letting us know we needed to use our room keys to leave as we were already charged with our room. We explained that we weren’t informed to which he said we had to have been told. No, positive we weren’t. Besides that the wallpaper was peeling off all the walls and ceilings, hair throughout the room/bathroom, shower water did not get hot even on the hottest setting, microwave was unplugged. We will not be returning to that location. My husband and I come to Cleveland a couple times a year and will be sure to choose a different hotel moving forward. Don’t waste your money.

I stayed at the DoubleTree in Cleveland last week, and this was my second (and definitely last) time here. I honestly cannot understand how this hotel is charging the rates it charges for the current condition of the property. It feels extremely old, dirty, and neglected — and the whole place has a stale smell that hits you the second you walk into the room. Let me be specific. The room: * The window frames and sills were full of grime and dust that looked like it had been building up for a long time. You get the feeling nobody has cleaned in the corners or edges for months. * The carpet felt sticky in places and just generally tired and worn. There were cables running along the floor in a way that did not feel safe or professional, more like something improvised. * The walls and doors were scuffed and stained, especially around the bathroom area. You can literally see hand marks and scratches that haven’t been cleaned or repainted. * The room had a strong "old hotel" smell, like humidity, old carpet, and cleaning product trying (and failing) to cover it. The bathroom: * The tub is chipped and looks like it's been repainted badly and then left to peel again. * The caulking around the tub and tiles is discolored and doesn’t look hygienic. * The drain area and fixtures just felt worn out, like something from a budget motel on the side of a highway, not something you expect from this brand or this price point. This is not about being “not brand new.” I travel, I understand older buildings. This is about maintenance and cleanliness. It’s about basic standards. The condition of the room made me genuinely uncomfortable. The view from the room is actually nice — you can see the lake and some of the city — but honestly, that’s the only positive thing I can say. And again, this is not based on a one-off bad night. This was my second stay here. The first time I thought, “OK, maybe I was unlucky, maybe they’re renovating.” I gave it another chance. After this last stay, I can say it clearly: it’s not improving. It’s just in bad shape. For the price they are asking, this is absolutely not worth it. Old, dirty, and with a persistent smell that you don’t forget. I will not be coming back, and I would not recommend it unless you have no other option and location is the only thing that matters to you. I’m adding photos so you can see what I mean instead of just taking my word for it.

Stayed one night last week instead of my 3-night reservation. I couldn't deal with the smell and filthiness of the property, or the lack of care from the staff. Today, while reading the news, I noticed that this hotel is closing down at the end of this month. About 5 years late, if you ask me. My first stay was a few years ago and it was almost as bad, but it looks like they never fixed anything from then to now - just seemed like they were trying to get as much money out of it as they could, then bounce.. typical hotel ownership groups. Crescent Hotels should be ashamed of themselves for this. Now they have to lay off all their staff (even the couple of good ones that I came across). DoubleTree by Hilton is closing in Downtown Cleveland One of the most recent closures involves the DoubleTree by Hilton, located at 1111 Lakeside Ave E in Downtown Cleveland. The hotel is set to permanently shut down on January 30, 2026, resulting in the layoff of approximately 66 employees, according to a notice letter to the city, county, and state of Ohio. In the notice, the company cited “business reasons which are out of the company’s control,” adding that it had “no ability to undertake remedial measures that would mitigate or avoid the closure.” Built in 1973, the 17-story, 378-room hotel previously operated as a Holiday Inn before being acquired by Cami Hotel Investments in 2007 for $10.7 million. The purchase was followed by a $15 million renovation completed the next year, according to a Hotel Online press release. Despite its prime location near Lake Erie and popular attractions such as Huntington Bank Field, home of the NFL’s Cleveland Browns, and several nearby museums, the hotel has struggled financially in recent years.

The worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Staff at the bar literally mocked me through a locked door when I knocked for silverware, then opened it and put their hands on me while telling me “don’t come back.” Completely unprofessional. Our room’s microwave didn’t work, and instead of offering a simple fix or letting us use another room to heat food, they told us to move rooms at 10 PM when all our stuff was already unpacked. Ridiculous. Hotel is outdated. We’ve been here for days and they’re “out of cookies” every single time. Just raggedy service all around. Definitely not the Hilton standard. 0 stars if I could, absolutely do not recommend. The Westin down the street is SO much better.
