Courtyard by Marriott Wichita at Old Town Review Courtyard by Marriott Wichita at Old Town is one of the most convenient and event-friendly hotel properties in downtown Wichita, especially for weddings, receptions, and guest accommodations tied to Old Town venues. Its biggest advantage is location—right in the heart of Old Town, where guests can easily walk to restaurants, bars, entertainment, and nightlife without needing transportation. The hotel has a modern, urban-industrial feel that fits well with the surrounding district’s warehouse-style aesthetic. The open atrium design and updated interiors give it a clean, contemporary atmosphere that works well for wedding blocks, rehearsal weekends, and traveling guests who want everything in one walkable area. From an event standpoint, the meeting and gathering spaces are practical and flexible rather than overly formal. It’s not a luxury ballroom-style venue, but it works well for welcome parties, smaller receptions, hospitality rooms, and vendor coordination during wedding weekends. For DJs and entertainment setups, the space is typically straightforward, with easy load-in and a layout that supports social flow without feeling cramped. One of the strongest benefits is guest experience. Being in Old Town means attendees can stay at the hotel and immediately access Wichita’s best dining, entertainment, and cultural spots without driving. That makes it especially valuable for out-of-town wedding guests or multi-day events where convenience matters as much as the venue itself. Parking and logistics can be a little tight compared to suburban hotels, but that’s the tradeoff for a downtown location. Most guests accept that in exchange for walkability and atmosphere. Overall, Courtyard by Marriott Wichita at Old Town is best suited as a central hub for wedding weekends and events that want energy, convenience, and a true downtown experience. It pairs especially well with nearby Old Town venues and serves as a strong anchor hotel for guest lodging and event coordination. Made reservation to stay here at Courtyard at Old Town on May 12th. Reservation was for June 5-6. Upon arrival I was informed my reservation had been canceled by Desk Manager but Front desk could not give me a reason and when it was cancelled, nor did I receive any previous notification. I had to book with another hotel as the staff did not go out of their way to do anything about the situation. Attempting to contact GM, Jordan Southern on June 8 and 9th, this GM is conveniently not available or out of the office and will NOT return calls to discuss this issue. Rest of staff does NOT CARE to assist in any way with any kind of resolution. I am Marriott Preferred Member/Bonvoy Member and apparently that has no weight with this location ! Better stay and hotel staff would be the Ambassador hotel just minutes away from this location.
I arrived at 5am after 6 hours of flight diversions and delays. It took 62 minutes to check into a room. The singular overnight staff member was not equipped to problem-solve, so I stood there exhausted, waiting for an open room. No effort to make up for this was made. To add insult to injury, I was double charged for the room (prepaid third party originally, then Marriott billed). The hotel and corporate has no record of this, so I have to dispute it. What a horrible experience—avoid at all costs.
I stay for the staff... They are all fantastic! This is our third stay this year and each time it's a new rule. Breakfast was included when I booked but then wasn't included when I arrived on my first stay. Breakfast wasn't included but was good on my second stay. This morning, now you pay the same for breakfast as the last two months but have no meat options. You can order it for an extra charge. Parking is also an extra charge and not convenient and often not available. The rooms don't have a microwave... Because it's geared towards business travelers? So we don't need microwaves to pop popcorn or heat up our coffee gone cold! For a less frustrated view, the facility is great with a wall full of history to see the transformation from what it was to what it is today. It has great common spaces on the lower level, first and second floors. The seating in the lobby is perfect for my large family to come and go and everyone to have a place to just hang out. Every staff member I have spoken to is fantastic and accommodating and I have enjoyed getting to know them. My rooms have always been spacious, even when I ended up just in a standard room. I'm here for the people but it makes my monthly trips look different! Not sure that I can recommend...
Would not recommend!!!! No microwave in room, 3.50 coffee from a machine in lobby, ice machine only on 4th floor, never had my room cleaned or trash emptied in 4 days, told manager, he just said, “ I’m sorry”, staff nice, ran out of bath towels. My room window looked into inside building, never knew if it was night or day, poor design. Not one hook in room, just towel racks and a closet, refrigerator froze my drinks. I travel a lot, this place is awful for the freq traveler. Find another place.
