The food is consistently tasty, the restaurant is clean, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff are always friendly and attentive. Highly recommend!

BK7 months agoI really appreciate the pay-by-the-pound option compared to AYCE. With all-you-can-eat, you often feel pressured to maximize value and end up overeating. At Tang Bar, the ingredients are fresh, and I like that they offer a lower-sodium option, my mouth didn’t feel dry afterward, unlike at some other hot pot spots. Unlike certain AYCE places that charge extra for a sauce bar, Tang Bar keeps it simple with just the essentials, which is all you really need. Personally, I prefer bean sauce over sesame, but what they provide works well. We tried the hot and sour broth, which leaned a bit more on the sour side. Next time, we’ll be more intentional about choosing the broth and balancing it with the right ingredients. It would be amazing if they offered broth samples, just a thought! Overall, Tang Bar is definitely going to be one of our regular go-to places. Note on my rating scale: Sharing this for transparency, as I recognize that a 3-star review may be misinterpreted as reflecting a mediocre experience. 5 stars – Exceptional: Outstanding food, service, and/or overall experience. Truly worth going out of your way for. (For example, we frequently make the drive from San Antonio to Austin just for Uchi.) 4 stars – Very Good: Exceeds expectations in quality, service, or ambiance. 3 stars – Good: A solid experience that meets expectations. I consider any place with 3 stars or above worthy of a return visit. 2 stars – Disappointing: Falls short in food quality or service. 1 star – Poor: Not recommended.

Frank Lin3 months agoThe ingredient selection is fairly extensive, which is a plus. However, I ordered a non-spicy soup base for my malatang, and it came out spicy. This makes me suspect the kitchen may have mixed up different customers’ pots during preparation. Another issue is the spoon design: it easily slips into the bowl while eating. I’ve never had this problem at other malatang restaurants, so it feels like a poor design choice. Because of these issues, I probably won’t return unless they improve. Also, be cautious about the high ratings here. Some reviews may be influenced by promotions offering a $0.99 drink in exchange for feedback, which could make the overall score less reliable (see image).
