Seattle Yellow Cab has been a trusted name in transportation since 1920, offering reliable service with the largest taxi fleet in the Pacific Northwest. The company is dedicated to accessibility and inclusivity, providing wheelchair-accessible vehicles to ensure that every passenger can travel comfortably and safely. Each driver undergoes annual background checks, accident reviews, and vehicle safety inspections for peace of mind. With over 80% of the fleet made up of hybrid vehicles, Seattle Yellow Cab is also an environmentally conscious choice. As a driver-owned business, most of each fare goes directly to local drivers who maintain and insure their own vehicles, supporting small business owners throughout the region.

This morning we were picked up at Pier 91 by Yellow Cab #1003 to go to the Sea Tek airport. Flat rate stayed it was $55.75 based on signage at the Pier when leaving our cruise. Once we approached the airport, the driver told us he needed to drop us off at arrival because it was quicker. We agreed, trying to be accommodating but we were early for our flight and not worried. Once we arrived, I tried to hand the driver my credit card and he said Cash Only. $65. My husband saw the fare machine inside the cab that said $57. He cleared it before we got out of the taxi. I told him he should’ve told us in advance that it was cash only and that I needed a receipt. He again said cash only but once people standing around started chiming in, saying it was a scam, he then said he’d take credit card but the receipt would take too long. My husband gave him $60 cash and told him that was all he was getting. The driver then said “ no tip?” And I told him he was a fraud and I was reporting him so NO, no tip. He scurried into his car once I started taking photos of his taxi. I will be reporting this to the cruise line also, Virgin Voyages, since they are promoting using taxi instead of Ubers. In response below: I emailed over this exact complaint to the company on June 11th after our return home, with dates and times.
Seattle Yellow Cab offers fixed flat-rate fares to the airport. The phone operator was quick, efficient, and informative during the booking process BUT the driver was unethical and attempted to overcharge us beyond the agreed flat fare by adding absurd “fuel surcharges” and insisting on cash payment. Edit: Thank you, Yellow Cab, for the quick response to this. For clarification, the driver wasn’t attempting to overcharge us by $5, but rather by $20.
This is a company absolutely to be avoided. On a recent business trip to Seattle I used them five times, wanting to keep my dollars local. One of the rides was competent and pleasant. On a second, the driver refused to follow the GPS direction in the cab company app, adding time and cost to the trip. On a trip from downtown to West Seattle, the driver missed the turnoff to the bridge, and made three subsequent wrong turns, despite running GPS directions not only on the company app, but also on his personal phone - both with spoken instructions. He obviously did not speak or understand English; I suspect that he couldn't see. A ride on my final morning from downtown to the airport was appalling. The driver watched Somali (I Googled some artists' names) music videos on his phone on the dashboard in front of him, singing along, waving his hands about and snapping his fingers. In very wet conditions, he drove excessively fast - hitting 87 MPH at one point, and weaving from lane to lane. Additionally, the app is deceptive, I suspect intentionally. While you book a ride, it consistently says that there are cars 2-3 minutes away, but when you confirm the booking they typically prove to be 8-9 minutes away, and even then don't arrive within that time.
It was my first time visiting Seattle,,,and I had a great experience with Seattle Yellow Cab. The ride was smooth and the driver was friendly. I also want to thank the dispatcher, Ivan,,, for being very helpful assisting me and making the booking process quick and easy since I have no idea how these works. I would definitely recommend Seattle Yellow Cab!!!
On the morning of June 10th my family had the most terrifying drive of our lives. Taxi was speeding in & out of traffic. As we were pulling away from cruise terminal, the driver tried to hit a family, their luggage, the ride share. Exceeding the speed limit all the way from the cruise terminal to the airport. Feared for our lives as the reckless driving continued. Please take Lyft, safer option. Paying more is for the best. On pier stated $50 at airport said $60. Please do not endanger your life riding with this taxi company. Most dangerous driving I have ever experienced. DO NOT USE THIS TAXI COMPANY what ever you do.
