Principle Food & Drink joined the Kalamazoo Mall community in August 2015 and was founded in the belief that West Michigan is hungry for an establishment that brings together these key elements: the finest ingredients offered by the local farm community; talented, dedicated hospitality professionals from the Kalamazoo area; a creative craft cocktail program; assembled in a comfortable, attractive space in friendly downtown Kalamazoo. <iframe src="https://api.wheeltheworld.com/embedded/a11y-features/standaloneProducts/ea14b101-9bc3-4a72-a38a-0a917b28fcb0?token=6baacc1bd89677df8bcde8e073693717be7783f88a60a0b8848e87d85e57ae4d86df5053e68e496a1fbe933c264d11c92ec49aea8147d8c8" title="Wheel the World accessibility information" height="20%" width="100%"></iframe>

Atmosphere was playful, The Staff? completely in sync with the work flow and creating comfortable dinning experience, Drinks on Point. honestly, the best front of house Crew I've seen in a long time to be honest,....as for the kitchen staff, I am going to HAVE to go to Sunday Service now, because I think it might have been a sin for me to have enjoyed Your masterpiece's LIKE THAT 🤤.
We came in early on a Saturday evening with a party of five. Our server’s name was Andrew, and it was his second night on his own - well-deserved promotion Andrew! We loved your food recommendations, you kept our waters full even though the bottles were on the tables for us, and we could tell you absolutely loved working for Principle, which made our experience that much more enjoyable. We ordered every appetizer except for the confit duck wings (not for any reason other than we had to pace ourselves) and we devoured each dish like children at an ice cream shop. And we almost ordered a round two of the same appetizers, but didn’t want to seem too gluttonous. Looking back we probably should have. Oh well - next time! We had the meatloaf, the roast chicken, the flank steak, the crab cakes and the pork chop. We also ordered the pear risotto (absolutely unique and I LOVED this dish) and the broccoli. Everything was so amazing! Chef Drew did not miss at all. The salted caramel cheesecake was fluffy (yes, I said fluffy) and oh so good! We also had the vanilla and passion fruit sorbetto (I mixed the flavors) and the chocolate pudding. If you like dark chocolate and tart raspberries, that one is for you. The ambiance was cozy and clean. We can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu items!
First time visit and glad we stopped. Had seats at the bar, shared 2 plates, had 2 craft drunks. Everything was fresh, delicious. Service was excellent.
Great food, drinks and service. Flank steak was prepared to order and was very good. Drinks, Smoke Sazcan was excellent. Service was polite and attentive. Out door seating on the patio was pleasant. Great experience.
If you are a vegetarian this is a horrible restaurant to go to. About 6 months ago, I asked if they would make my vegetarian husband red sauce pasta because the only veggie dishes they have include mushrooms. They said they were so happy to do it. We went there about 10 times and they made sure he got the red sauce pasta delicious. Well the party is over with a new chef and the policy is we don’t do anything to help our customers. We were told the last time we were there no more pasta. It’s to inconvenient for the new chef. The. They said he could order the stuffed pepper and they would remove the mushrooms. We went there this week. He was unable to order anything because he doesn’t like mushrooms or severely burnt broccoli and the lazy chef will not remove anything and even though he has red sauce it’s just to inconvenient to have any customer service and make it in the five minutes it takes to boil pasta. If this new policy changes and the decision is to offer customers good choices they like rather than for the chef like every other nice restaurant in downtown Kalamazoo does like Rustica and the Wine Loft as well as others, We would take this review of the new rigid management that believes we are too busy to make our restaurant reach out to vegetarians who don’t like mushrooms. But for now we would rate this restaurant a 0 in caring about their customers!!!!!!!
