  Made a reservation online and then went to the counter to confirm with the agent for the rental and they said that they had no vehicle for us and that online and the 800 number doesn’t know the Kalamazoo’s inventory. So, we would not have the vehicle for the family trip. I even asked to provide payment at the time of reservation, she said, “you need to make your reservation months ago to guarantee a vehicle upon arrival”. Turns out they had no vehicles and that we were out of luck. Thanks National for ruining our trip. Way to over promise and under deliver. Turns out all rental car places do this. Gets better they had like 4 of the vehicles that we had reserved sitting in the parking lot. I asked them, what about those out in your lot? “Those are for guests who made reservations this summer”. I then asked if I reserve now for next year is there any guarantee that I will have a vehicle? She said, “we don’t make guarantees”. Hmmm seems like my money is no good and that they only take care of their elite members. They say the folks who reserved this summer have reservations, but if I decide to reserve now for a year from now, she can’t guarantee I’ll have that rental. They seem to be talking about both sides of their mouth. They also told me they were 300% overbooked, how a car company can operate and not know the logistics and location of their vehicles baffles me

  If I could give Kendra at the National counter a 10 rating, I would. Talk about an employee who cares about their customers. My flight was delayed from Chicago, and I was nervous I would have missed getting a car to drive to South Bend. When I turned the corner and saw her smiling face, I was relieved and very happy. She said she stays until the last flights come in, just in case anyone needs a ride. WOW!!!! (The time was 12:20AM) I work in franchising and to know an employee is this thoughtful and cares that much for their customers' needs to be recognized!! She is a gem!!!

  I will never use your rental services again. You are price gouging and you are scammers when I rented a car for six days brought the car back after four days of rental you refuse to refund the two days that I did not use the car you charged me over $800 for four days worth of a rental. You should be ashamed of yourself and I will never use your services again.

  Had the same experience as many with this rental, only one person available and when i went to pick up my reserved vehicle they lied to me saying my credit score is frozen. Frustrated I went over to National to get a different MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE rental and was angry so i naively did not take before photos. Lo and behold upon return they pointed out a barely visible dent on the decklid of the vehicle (suspicious how quickly they found it, they knew where to look apparently) and are probably gonna charge me an arm and a leg for it. DO NOT RECOMMEND RENTING HERE EVER

  I was looking forward to flying in/out of a small airport and renting a car to go with it. When my flight out of Chicago got delayed late enough National would be closed the National rep told me “rent a car and drive here” so I did. And when I flew out I dropped off at this National location and because they were closed, I’d never been there, it was dark, 5am, no signage of what to do, I dropped the car off and left the keys in the vehicle like at any other location. This was a Friday. I got a call on Saturday asking about the car, I informed them of what I had to do, I received my bill, and thought I was done. Nope! Got a call on Tuesday from corporate saying they didn’t have the car, explained what happened and they are now accusing me of not dropping off the car until Tuesday (I live in Oklahoma). I provided EVERY piece of evidence that I dropped off the car on Friday… and corporate has thrown every request at me to prove I dropped the car off, and I was able to provide proof. I even took photos from Google Maps of Airport Rd driving in and the only sign “rental car return”. Unfortunately someone at National, whether it be corporate or at the branch screwed up and are taking it out on the customer. I’m a 50+ female and have rented for years through company travel and this is the first time this has ever happened! Apparently there is a different process for dropping off a vehicle after hours but if you don’t know, you won’t know. Shameful that they can’t admit there is failure in their process and that it’s okay through all of corporate to blame the customer. UPDATE: Thank you for your response. I have submitted all of my information (evidence) to whom the representative said was your highest manager, and it’s not resolved. I would (should) be fired for lying and cheating my company out of money and time if I’m not where I say I am. I’ve turned it over to my credit card company to resolve. I was sent a receipt, that’s what I’m paying, not the made up amount I was never billed for. Thanks again for your reply.
