Kim TallBear2 months agoI am a professor at the University of Minnesota and recently hosted a two-day symposium at the McNamara Alumni Center. Everything was perfect. The facilities are beautiful, spacious, and filled with natural light in the main hall. We reserved a large beautiful room off the main hall for a documentary film project we are working on as well. Even though it was off the main hall, the film crew found the sound proofing adequate. The tech support for our hybrid in-person/Zoom meeting was excellent. We had zero complications with that, and we heard from our symposium attendees (both in-person and on Zoom) how much they appreciated the seamless tech support. We also received many compliments from in-person attendees about how delicious were the lunches provided by D'Amico, the on-site catering group. The restroom facilities are also plentiful and nicely appointed. The McNamara Center staff were incredibly helpful at every step, from early planning throughout the 5 months leading up to the event through day-of implementation. They were as flexible as they could be with our revised and additional room requests, and their people even helped us clean up our meeting supplies (pens, index cards, etc.) from our banquet tables at the end of each day. If I ever take on such a large event again, the McNamara will be my top choice for an on-campus venue.
Davorin Skender2 months agoThe main atrium was really spacious and unique tho the afternoon sun was tough to deal with. Food service was good quality too. Very cool place for an event like the conference I was at.
Molly Morris3 weeks agoMy organization hosted our national conference at the McNamara Alumni Center in May 2026 and we could not have been more impressed with the entire team and venue. We were treated with such care from the event staff, to AV, and the catering team. Our attendees were deeply impressed as well. Lots of happy comments about the food too! I can't recommend them highly enough!
Shauna Rittera year agoI used the smaller space for my wedding reception and it was perfect!! I ended up having about 75 guests and it made for the perfect amount of space for the dance floor. A huge reason I picked this space was for the windows and it did not disappoint! Goldy also made a surprise appearance which was fun! I don’t have all my photos yet but definitely will be sharing when I do! The only negative thing I have to say is it felt weird planning this for over a year and the only time I was in the space was for the tour. All planning after was done via email or zoom (even the 30 day out meeting, which I found odd. If I wasn’t a coordinator myself I probably would’ve asked to walk through the space myself again to make the vision come to life, I don’t know how people not in the industry would be able to plan something like this with only seeing the space for like 30 minutes a year ago)
Jennifer Schulz7 months agoOur reception went so smoothly, and the McNamara team helped with some last-minute requests. I didn't have to worry about room details and logistics, so I was able to focus on the event. I would definitely recommend McNamara to others, and will be hosting events there in the future.
