About this venue

A destination spot in Cleveland for 22 years now, downtown Cleveland's most awarded restaurant having won Silver Spoons awards 22 years in a row, TripAdvisor Award given to only 2% of restaurants in the world, and A-List top diners guide, among countless other awards. At Mallorca, we pride ourselves on award-winning service and unique food items. Along with our wonderful paella (saffron rice with mussels, clams, shrimp, scallops, chicken, chorizo and lobster), and a variety of fresh seafood stews, we also offer slow-roasted meats like our famous "baby goat," slow-roasted lamb shank osso bucco, roasted rabbit and favorites like our 32 oz T-Bone steak—a monster served at your table still sizzling. These all pair perfectly with our wonderful wines of the world, including some house Spanish wines not offered anywhere else in the city, or our famous nectar of the Spanish Gods—SANGRIA—served red, white or champagne table side! Our warm and knowledgeable servers make the experience unique and fun. We always say at Mallorca, if you don't get a hug on the way in, you will want one on the way out. Mallorca, 22 years of creating our family one guest at a time. ¡Bienvenidos a Mallorca!

Popped in for CLE restaurant week, which if you haven't participated in, it is a great way to experience nicer places for a fraction of the cost! Jorge our server, was very kind and charismatic. He walked us through their menu and set us off on an adventure. Although the service was good, I'm not exactly sure what earned the James Beard Hospitality nomination to this restuarant. Dining room is old school, but beautiful. I really appreciated the Spanish art and red motifs decorating the walls. I have read reports of the owners and staff going above the call of duty, but to me this was an otherwise normal dinner service. The Patatas Bravas and Gazpacho were delicious and loaded with seasonings and spice. The Paella is rich and packed with seafood. I disagree with the claims this is "Microwave rice", as it is clearly saturated with stock (probably seafood) and rich and decadent. Plain carrots and broccoli on the side were strange to me, but I loved the chips! I also enjoyed the flan. At reduced rate due to restaurant week, my meal totalled $50. On the standard menu, it would have been over $100, which would be a little steep. Seafood is expensive, I get it, and that's also prohibitive to some. I would come back.

Jorge (George) was so wonderful. He's clearly passionate about his job. We started in the bar with cocktails before our reservation, which were delicious and were seated right on time. Dinner was delicious; seafood for me, filet for my husband. Desserts were great, lovely variety and all looked amazing. Cookie bar cake was unreal yummy. Atmosphere is both upscale and casual. Opening day for the Guardians was the same day and fans streamed in after the game ended, in jerseys and ball caps. And at the next table were 2 ladies in dresses and looking fancy. I felt comfortable in jeans and a foo-foo shirt. We will definitely visit again.

We ordered two paella pans to-go for my fiancé’s 36th birthday. We order from here often the past 4 years, and overall it was another good experience. I want to give a special thank you to Jorge, he is always polite, friendly, and goes above and beyond. This time he even brought our order out to my mother-in-law’s car, which we really appreciated. The paella itself was flavorful, the rice tasted like it was cooked in a rich seafood stock, and the peas were fresh. Our order also came with sides (chips, carrots and broccoli, two small salads, and bread). The chips are usually a generous portion, especially for two trays, but we only received one this time. The only disappointment was the seafood expectation. We paid extra for additional shrimp on both pans, which we didn’t mind for a special occasion. However, there were no lobster tails included, even though lobster is listed on the menu. We’ve ordered many times over the years and were really looking forward to that. Next time, I’ll confirm lobster availability when ordering. Overall, still a solid spot with great flavor and consistent service, Jorge truly makes the experience even better.

I’ve been dining at Mallorca since the late 1990s, and unfortunately this visit was a big letdown compared to what it used to be. This was a Friday night dinner. We started with the fried squid appetizer ($19.75), which was fine but nothing memorable. The paella Valenciana ($58) was especially disappointing — the rice both looked and tasted like it came from a box. Years ago, the paella was a showpiece with a substantial half lobster on top. This time it came with a very small split lobster tail that was overcooked and chewy, which was extremely disappointing given the price. The stuffed “jumbo” shrimp ($42) were the biggest letdown of the night. The shrimp were very small, extremely overcooked, and absolutely not worth the cost. The so‑called “fresh” chips were not salted or seasoned in any way, and the broccoli and carrots were also completely unseasoned. Everything on the plate felt bland and flavorless. Desserts (flan and lemoncillo cake at $11.50 each) were decent, but not enough to make up for the main courses. Service was also lacking. In the past, part of the Mallorca experience was the energy — the waiter would announce the specials loudly and make it fun. This time there was none of that. Our waiter barely engaged or asked what we wanted to eat. One of the things that always made Mallorca memorable was the attention to detail. Years ago, after finishing your meal, you were often presented with a small glass of almond liqueur — a simple but special touch that really captured the warmth and hospitality of Spain. That kind of experience is gone now. Spain is known for flavorful, rich, and well‑seasoned food that highlights savory, salty, and earthy notes rather than heat, and that essence feels lost here. I haven’t been here in a while, and sadly the quality and overall experience have declined significantly since my earlier visits. Given the pricing and what it used to be, I don’t see myself returning anytime soon.

Food was yummy, nice to have something different. I haven’t had paella in forever so I was happy to have it again. Service was great, the gentlemen were kind. Atmosphere was nice, not super loud so you can actually have a conversation.
