We happened in here and from the moment the waiter started talking we just loved it. He explained place and with pride talked about it being a scratch kitchen with daily prep. The at table guac and the ceviche were over the top good. Our friends salad was good as he complains about everything and didn’t complain about it. 😉 We had the southwest paella. Thank goodness we split it. It was very good but very heavy. We all loved our drinks as well High recommend for a place surrounded by the basic things you can find anywhere.
We went to this restaurant because it boasts a seed oil free menu. It did not disappoint! Best Mexican restaurant I have been to. Food was so fresh and delicious. Lobster tacos were amazing. Salsa was think and flavorful. The Pollo Relleno is the best I have had. Service was great! Definitely will go again.
Had such a great experience at Iron Cactus Mexican Restaurant and Margarita Bar on the River Walk! Jennifer was our server and she was absolutely fabulous — friendly, attentive, and made the whole meal even better. The strawberry margaritas were top notch, the tableside guacamole is an absolute must-order, and the Baja fish tacos were excellent. Of course I had to add a side of fries because… boy dinner! I also really appreciated that they don’t use seed oils and focus on fresh ingredients — you can genuinely taste the difference. Perfect River Walk spot with great food, drinks, and atmosphere. Would definitely come back!
Restaurant is conveniently located on the River Walk. There was a moderate wait but the experience ended up being worth it. We ordered the table side guacamole which was unique, interactive and the guacamole was fresh. The waitress was visibly busy but kept a genuinely friendly demeanor. They were busy and seemed to be understaffed because the speed of the kitchen was drastically affected.
Location, lovely. The fish tacos were good and cocktail was ok, sharing the area with birds, kind of funny. Indoor & outdoor seating. Nice, walkable location. The really strange part was the hostility of the waiter. I was seated, and after waiting a while noticed that both of the nearby tables seated after me had water and had been helped. I tried to catch the eye of both servers in my area and failed. I finally called out to get one guys attention, and he said he would check to see who had my table. He left and I saw him come back and help someone else and leave again. So I stood up and started walking towards the host stand figuring it must not be this guy since he walked right past me and didn’t say anything. The manager walked over and was perfectly nice. He told me that was indeed my waiter and asked if he could put a drink in until he got back to me. I ordered a drink and it still took a while for the waiter to get back to me. When he did, he asked if he could get me anything to start and I said the manager took my drink order and he literally said OK and turned and walked away. Meanwhile, I’m seeing this guy approach multiple tables, bantering and being friendly. He eventually approached with the drink, which he spilled right as he reached my table, didn’t even look at me and then turned and stormed away! He came back with another drink, and I ordered my dinner on a slightly more civil note. He seemed to be having a hard time even talking to me. Somebody else brought my dinner, they forgot my side of guacamole. So I was sitting there waiting for it while my food was getting cold and I had to tell the waiter. I was practically afraid to. I don’t know if it was the single female thing, he thought I’d be a lousy tipper, or if it was because he forgot I was his table and I had to ask the manager for help. Whatever, he seemed friendly with everyone else. By the way, if I let a table sit for a really long time, spilled their drink, forgot their guacamole, let their meal get cold while they waited for me to come back so they could ask for the guacamole, I might’ve comped them the dang guacamole.
