EDIT TO SAY: Management discussed these issues with me and they are committed to making improvements. I have been happy with this hotel in the past…so I am going to give them another chance. They have room for improvement, but have definitely shown a commitment to making their customers happy! Rooms and common areas are clean (but dated). Airport location is convenient and the shuttle drivers are fabulous! The hotel advertises that they have computers and printers for their customers…THEY DO NOT. When I asked for help, I was instructed to go to the nearest FedEx store to use a computer! This is absolutely not acceptable. They also list on their website that the rooms have mini fridges…but be aware…these are the ones that cycle on and off every 2-4 hours!! They are absolutely NOT safe for food or medication. I travel with a fridge thermometer and when I checked it was either too warm or freezing temperatures. I was told that I could use the fridge in the kitchen area (I have medical dietary restrictions and must have my own food at times). This was a hassle, but I was willing to try it. I did this twice and both times, it seemed to be a huge inconvenience for Rhonda at the front desk. It was quite obvious that she didn’t want to help me with this (after I was promised on the phone that it would be an easy process). The bedding in the room is clean, however, the down comforters have been through it!! There is little to no stuffing in them and it felt like sleeping with just sheets. I hope they improve this with there upcoming renovation! Lastly, when I asked for a late check out, Rhonda assured me that my old key would still work. Well, it didn’t. So I would advise anyone in this situation to ask for a new key even if they claim it will still work. If you don’t need the business center, a real refrigerator, or nice bedding…this hotel would be fine. It feels safer than some in the area. However, I won’t be staying here again.
Called the front desk after midnight for a barking dog it continued through the night. Front desk wouldn’t let me speak to a manager and said they could not comp the night since I prepaid. Unfortunately that’s not my problem to figure out. I will delete this when contacted by the GM. Or corporate. I will dispute these charges for failure to provide basic basic services. I was looking forward to leaving great feedback. The inconvenience should not come from my pocket. Of the issue had been resolved it wouldn’t have even been posted here. I am embarking on a 9 hour drive that now will not be met and cost me even more money and time and cancellations of appointments. Driving with 3 hours of sleep isn’t a safe.
We have been traveling from Iowa down to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and we had made a reservation Tuesday at this hotel when we were awaiting our flight back to Iowa. When we first arrived we were greeted by a very nice person at the front desk and she got us checked in quickly and we got to our rooms only to discover that the rooms were much smaller than we had been told and we were actually supposed to be in a suite and not just in a standard. We were all very tired from traveling and we were coming to the end of our vacation so we just sucked it up and stayed in those rooms. We are not aware prior to going there that parking was not included as part of staying at that hotel which would have been nice to know it was not posted anywhere that I could see even now when I went back and looked on their website. You can get coffee there 24/7 which is Starbucks coffee. However it was not good at all. My stepmom got a hot mocha and it was cold when she got it and she had paid almost $7 for it. She went back down there and nobody was there and she just didn't want to mess with it so she just dumped it out and did not drink it. I think that if you're going to offer accommodations like that, that you should at least make sure that staff is trained right on how to make it and that the product that you're putting out is exactly what it should be. The only other downfall was that our thermostat was completely messed up. We set it on 72 and the air kept turning on itself and we would set it at 78 and it would get way too hot in there. I would just recommend checking out all of the details about the hotel prior to booking again but we would definitely stay there again as long as we were able to confirm that we were getting the right room and that they understood that their coffee was not being made right. My mom and my stepdad also noted that there was a lot of people that were coming in very late and they were being very loud and laughing and playing music and slamming doors at 1:00 in the morning.
Honestly, I have a "thing" against Marriott Courtyards. The last several I have been in have been dated and have rice paper walls between the rooms. I have lost a lot of sleep and a little bitter about the experiences. I was kind of forced by availability and rates to take this on a business trip and was expecting more of the same. However I was very pleasantly surprised. The hotel obviously was not brand new but it was clean, well kept and - best of all - it was really quiet. They actually have quiet hours signs posted and evidently the rest of my fellow business travelers avoided by that. Again, not brand new, but the bed was comfortable, and after being in four other beds on this trip, I really appreciated it and the pillows. The guy at the front desk that checked me in was nice, friendly, and understanding about business travel and understood my request for a quietness. *Excellent* customer focus. I honestly look forward to staying here in the future. And that's saying something as tired as I am with business travel after this year.
This hotel is beautiful! We came for a company Christmas party. All of the staff members were exceptionally friendly! The rooms were nice and the bed was amazing!
