Evan P★★★★★3 months agoHad a great 4-night stay at this Sheraton. It’s newly renovated and very comfortable. That being said, weirdly the paint on the bathroom ceiling was peeling. Another oddity is the cord management for all the built-ins. It’s not functionally impactful, just unsightly.
The room had a fridge. The gym has dumbbells up to 50lbs, cables, as well as leg press, chest press, and lat pulldown. Enough to get a good pump for sure. I wish the pool area had a hot tub or sauna as well, but the pool is on the warmer side.
The club lounge was small, but alwyas exceptionally clean and well stocked. It has gorgeous views of the city, too and I loved working in here. Breakfast and appetizers were alwyas hot and delicious! All the staff from the lobby to the lounge were delightful.
It’s about a 12 minute walk from the metro blue line, and there is a full target nearby as well. The skywalk connects it to the contention center and the Hyatt across the street.
I always look forward to the warm oak scent of the toiletries when I check into a Sheraton, too!
Miriam Bridges★★★★★7 months agoWe celebrated New Year’s Eve at the downtown Sheraton Minneapolis in their newly renovated iconic dome, and it was a fantastic experience. The space was absolutely beautiful and felt special for ringing in the New Year.
The service was excellent—staff were attentive and thoughtful. They were giving out complimentary champagne Jell-O shots, and when I mentioned I don’t like Jell-O, they kindly bought my first drink instead, which was such a nice touch. The DJ was great, the music kept the energy up all night, and the overall vibe was fun and lively.
We live right next door, so the convenience couldn’t be beat. For those coming in from out of town, they also offered a fantastic dinner option and an overnight stay. Overall, we had a lovely evening and would highly recommend this New Year’s Eve celebration. We hope to return this year!
Becky Ritz★★★★★2 months agoI am writing to formally express my disappointment regarding my recent stay at the Sheraton Minneapolis Downtown. Unfortunately, multiple incidents occurred during my visit that reflected a lack of professionalism, inadequate staff training, and poor customer service.
The first issue occurred during check-in. I had booked a room using a verified Marriott Bonvoy rate and had been informed prior to arrival that if the verification did not automatically appear in the system, I would simply need to present my Bonvoy membership information and identification.
When I arrived, the front desk associate was unsure how to process the verification and sought assistance from another employee whom I believe was a manager or supervisor. This individual did not introduce himself and was not wearing a name tag. Throughout the interaction, he was dismissive, repeatedly interrupted me, and refused to review the documentation I was attempting to provide. I tried multiple times to show him both my confirmation email and my Marriott Bonvoy account displaying my membership number and verified status under my name. Despite refusing to look at the information, he repeatedly insisted that I had the wrong email and that my account was not verified.
I remained calm and respectful throughout the interaction, did not raise my voice, and simply asked questions to understand what documentation was needed. It was not until I contacted another representative by phone and had that individual speaking with the employee that his attitude improved slightly. At that point, he finally agreed to review the confirmation email that he had previously refused to examine. After looking at it, he acknowledged that it was in fact the correct email. When I pointed out that it was the same documentation I had attempted to show him earlier, he refused to acknowledge his mistake. Unsure of his name but he was the bald, white man who sat in the front office.
Beyond the poor treatment I received, the interaction left me with the impression that the employee was either unfamiliar with Marriott's verification procedures or inadequately trained on the system. Additionally, I observed him speaking disrespectfully to other employees during my time at the front desk, which further reflected poorly on the property's management and culture.
Unfortunately, the issues did not end there.
During our stay, housekeeping entered our room and left the room door open after departing. In addition to this serious security concern, a tote bag belonging to my sister disappeared after housekeeping serviced the room. The bag had been left on the bed and was nowhere near any trash. Despite this, housekeeping failed to remove the room's actual trash and did not replace the dirty towels that had been left on the floor in accordance with the instructions provided by the hotel.
My sister reported both the missing tote bag and the room being left unsecured to the front desk. The response was minimal. We were told that housekeeping would be informed and that the manager was at lunch and would be notified. However, no one followed up with us, no apology was offered, no effort was made to locate the missing item, and no resolution was provided.
As a Marriott guest, I expect a higher standard of professionalism, accountability, and customer service. Instead, I experienced rude and dismissive treatment during check-in, apparent lack of training regarding Marriott procedures, poor housekeeping practices, a security concern involving our room being left open, and a complete lack of follow-up when these issues were reported.
I would appreciate a review of these incidents, particularly the conduct of the employee who handled my check-in and the housekeeping concerns described above. I hope appropriate steps will be taken to improve staff training, guest communication, and accountability at this property so that future guests do not have a similar experience.
Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to hearing from you regarding this matter.
Mike Cole★★★★★a month agoThis is my second stay at this Sheraton hotel.
The positive:
1)Perfect if you have a convention event. A 5-10 minute walk through the skyway.
Central location close to restaurants, entertainment and walking. Both outside and in the skyway.
2)The rooms were clean.
3)Very hot water and nice liquid soaps, shampoo, etc.
4)The Manager and staff are very accommodating.
The negative:
1) No 24 hour complimentary coffee in the lobby. Or at least when the cafe isn’t open.
Tiki B★★★★★6 months agoFirst time stay in the newly renovated location and beauty abounds. Welcomed by kind and helpful staff. The lobby is a great place for people watching and easy transit access. Loved the deep heated indoor pool. Our suite was amazing, with a few points of improvement; the living room is very loud (AC or ventilation) had TV volume up to highest point and still could not hear it clearly. Entrance has 1 dedicated elevator, however call button signals for all 3.
