4.5/5 – Great downtown green space right at the base of the Tower While we were up at the Tower of the Americas for happy hour on a Monday evening, we took some time to explore Hemisfair Park and the surrounding district before and after. It's the historic site of the 1968 World's Fair, and it's turned into a really nice urban park area with green space, water features, playgrounds, and easy walking paths. The location is perfect — super central downtown, just steps from the Tower, and a short walk to the River Walk and Alamo. We wandered around the grounds, checked out the grottos and fountains (they're pretty cool), and it made for a relaxing contrast to the height and views from the Tower. There are spots to sit, some public art, and it feels like a welcoming community hangout spot. It's clearly still evolving with ongoing redevelopment (new parks and amenities coming online), but even now it's a solid place to stretch your legs or kill time before/after riding up the Tower. Free to enter the park itself, family-friendly with playgrounds and splash areas (though we were there in the evening), and there are nearby local spots for food or drinks if you want more options. Bottom line: If you're already heading to the Tower of the Americas, don't skip the Hemisfair grounds — it's a pleasant, low-key addition that gives you more of that classic San Antonio vibe without extra cost or hassle. Great for photos, people-watching, or just enjoying some fresh air in the heart of downtown. We'd definitely walk through again on future visits, especially during one of their events or markets. Pro tip: Combine it with your Tower trip for a full afternoon/evening downtown loop. Hemisfair is a San Antonio landmark with walkways, merchants, historical features and more. A Sunday afternoon at the Hemisfair is safe and enjoyable for families, couples and everybody.

A Stroll Through San Antonio’s Changing Heart I was on assignment downtown at the Convention Center, and during a break, I decided to take a walk. I knew the whole area was in the middle of a big redevelopment, but seeing it up close made me excited for what’s coming. You can already spot a new hotel rising right next door, and who knows—maybe one day a sports arena will join the skyline. It took me back to being six years old in 1968, when San Antonio hosted the World’s Fair. Back then, the area had this dazzling, futuristic feel. Today, it’s a vibrant blend of the past and the future—apartment buildings, charming little restaurants, and playful spaces for kids. I wandered past a splash area where children laughed and played in the water while parents relaxed nearby, and I couldn’t help but smile. Once the redevelopment is finished, this place is going to be something special. But honestly, it’s already worth a visit. Whether you live here or you’re just in town, take a stroll, grab a bite at a local spot, and if you’ve got kids, let them burn some energy in one of the play areas. There are hidden gems tucked around every corner. San Antonio is changing—and it’s beautiful to watch.

Went out as a last minute thing and ended up enjoying my night so much with my family! A guy selling nachos in a truck stopped us and was like do yall like nachos? Long story short shout out to ricos nachos for giving my nieces and me free nachos and we ended up going all the way to the top of the tower and it started raining while we were up there! Had so much fun bought pictures and would defenitly do it again! Got to see lightning while being up there it was amazing!
