Do not stay here if you expect heating to be a basic hotel amenity! I have never stayed in a hotel where the heating and A/C cannot work simultaneously (this may occur in old apartment buildings). The building had no heating as it had switched to A/C for the season! It was cold, overnight dropped to 3 Celcius and the wind was blowing in the cracks around the ceiling to floor windows, which I blocked with pillows. Their solution? I was given a small space heater and extra blanket! With parking and taxes, it came to just shy of $800 for 2 nights - not expensive for downtown but not cheap. The windows were dirty, carpet ripped and stained, no glasses in the bathroom, the furniture had seen better days and despite a Reno, the bathroom had a poor layout, no on-demand hot water, and the lowest smallest toilet we had seen in years. The sheets did not fit the bed and the pillows were lumpy (I used a cushion stuffed into a pillowcase). Awful stay! The only reason my rating is not lower is because the location is great, and the staff, including front desk, maintenance and housekeeping, was helpful and friendly (except the entitled and rude check-out person). There were groups of visiting high school students - perhaps they get a good discount and it works for them. I will never stay here again nor can I recommend it.
Upon entering the room, it was huge. It had seats for 10 with room to spare! The dining area sits 4 comfortably for dinner right off of the kitchen. The large patio door looks out over city hall with a balcony to sit on. The bed was comfortable and shower, very warm, since we were there during the coldest days of the year. Will return again.
Incredible location. It looks old from the outside but the inside is wonderful. Good mattresses huge suites with big tv. Even the gym in the basement was nice with saunas in each change room. The girl at the front desk was awesome too.
This looks like a nice hotel and room but if you look closely, you can tell it's old and they haven't paid close attention to detail making it look updated. The water pressure in the shower is so low and it's confusing trying to get the right temperature. There's no hooks in the bathroom to hang your towels. There was a kitchen and the room was surprisingly big with a living room and a walk in closet! But the kitchen light was burnt out and there was hair in the shower and dog poops on the balcony! Pillows were soft and the bed was hard. Parking isn't included nor breakfast. The location is great to walk to great pubs and coffee shops and only 15 min walk to parliament buildings!
When we got there they made us put down $150 fee in case we messed up the room. This was a birthday gift and I didn’t have a credit card so my partner had to pay for it. We get to the room and it’s run down, not super updated. There was a crack in one of the walls that made it look like it wasn’t super supported. For the amount I paid for it I would expect free breakfast but they didn’t have one, it came with a restaurant on site that was expensive. They don’t have free parking and just in general the space feels like a bad hotel trying to be masked with slightly fancy things. You can tell that they only clean high touch places because the walls had food and random liquids on them from past stays and the entire room was just dusty. The sheets were scratchy and uncomfortable, all and all it just wasn’t a great stay. I also had an allergic reaction and ended up spending most of my time in the er and not in the hotel room. They refused to refund or at least reduce the cost of my stay despite proof and I didn’t even finish out the last night of my stay there because I thought it was something in the room I was allergic to (something I’m trying to actively figure out). There are many nicer hotels around, I’d choose one of those. I don’t like this place and will never set foot in it again.
