I'm conflicted about how to rate the tour. We weren't overly impressed with the tour, the food, or the guide. We took a food tour in the Italian section of Boston that was amazing for its history, food and knowledgeable guide. This was none of those. The restaurants were dirty. We were given no history of the food, ethnic group, or explanation from the restaurant owners. We didn't receive all the food the overview said we would receive. The Heart of St. Paul tour could really be improved in so many ways. We were very disappointed and I don't know that I would do another tour with this group.

I am from Minnesota and we did the St Paul walking food tour for my sisters birthday with our mother and we absolutely loved it! It was so informative about the history of St.Paul, extremely enjoyable and all the stops and food was amazing! I highly recommend this tour to anyone of ANY age!! Kim does the Saturday tour and her knowledge was astounding and made the tour that much better!

Overall we had a great day! We enjoyed ourselves tremendously and plan to take part in other similar tours in the future! Info if you're thinking of taking in the St. Paul Skyway Tour... you start at Union Depot and make five stops. The stops are at Legacy Chocolates, Sawatdee Thai, Candyland, Afro Deli, and the Citizen inside a St. Paul hotel (didn't catch which one). You will get quite a bit of historical details which were fun and interesting, but you won't get a lot of food details. The chocolate stop did give us a lot of information about different kinds of chocolate, which was great, but that's where food info ended! More details... Things we loved... variety of foods was great; tour guide Kim was knowledgeable and very personable; distance between stops was good...gave us opportunity to settle our food from one stop before we had more; food was delicious... especially liked the Thai and Somalian. Things we didn't like as much... the Candyland stop added absolutely nothing to the tour... almost no info and nothing to taste (we were handed a little paper bag that had popcorn and a piece of chocolate); the Juicy Lucy was dry and disappointing and not one of MN's authentic Juicy Lucies; would have liked more info about the food (would everyone know the history of Juicy Lucies?... none was given that I heard, and the Citizen is not known for serving them. We didn't even see them on their menu that was posted); we would have preferred not starting the morning with chocolate (we know why it was necessary but we came with an empty stomach to prep for the tour and having chocolate first thing messed with blood sugar); and a nitpick comment is that it would have been nice to end closer to the beginning.

Could have done without the coffee and donut stop at Nina's. Didn't have a chance to sit down. Maybe go to some other restaurant in its place. And too cold for the Summit Ave walking tour which was not mentioned in the event info. But interesting history non the less.

Brian was a fantastic tour guide! He shared lots of great history along the walk that many of the native Minnesotans in the group didn't know. All the food on the tour was fantastic! We came hungry and left happy. Absolutely would do another tour and would recommend to any type of group! We went has a team building activity and had a great time with something a bit more unique than just a happy hour.
