Ben Koh Chang10 months agoI visited this Museum. I was very impressed with the exhibit and all the Museum has put together to make black history come alive . With pictures and video screens you can relive the times from Silma Alabama to MLk walk for justice. I was also impressed my the structure outside the Museum as Michael Bennett who is also a part of the Northwest African American Museum along with Mass Timber constructed this building with the top outlined of a cross. When it's sunny the shadow of the cross you can see on the wall. I took many pictures please if ever you can go visit this Museum. Please know there is an entrance fee very reasonable I believe it's $8 dollars or so and yes I donated to this great Museum also. Any donations help in securing the museum .
Tify Burks6 months agoThe Northwest African American Museum is worth the entrance fee. I went for an event centered on policy change and economic justice so I didn't get the opportunity to really experience the exhibits the way I wanted to but this museum does a great job preserving the rich Black history that has strong roots in Seattle. I am grateful I got the opportunity to visit, definitely want to visit again before I move out of Seattle!
Marya year agoSuch a nice a museum. Went for a quick visit on a summer afternoon and fully enjoyed all of the current exhibits with our 6 & 8yo. Very nice staff. Library is great for the end too. Current photography exhibit from Selma is amazing, especially in today’s crazy times. Really a great experience. So happy to see NAAM open again - great icon of the importance of standing up for what you believe in :) 🙌🏼
Jesse Jamesa year agoBeautiful collection of art and history focused on African American experiences in the Northwest and beyond. Five galleries/ spaces spread out one floor. Very quiet on a Friday morning, getting through it in about an hour. Photo scavenger hunt helps keep you on track while taking it all in. Free parking and free admission with tickets from the King County Library.
