Connectivity

Cherry Hill, New Jersey receives a connectivity score of 72/100 for business travelers. INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT CONNECTIVITY (24/30): Cherry Hill benefits from excellent proximity to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL), located just 15 miles away with a 20-minute drive, offering direct international flights to Europe, Canada, Caribbean, and Central America. Secondary access to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), 90 miles north, provides additional global connections to Asia, Europe, and South America as a major United Airlines hub. The destination's highway access via I-295 and New Jersey Turnpike ensures seamless airport transfers. However, reliance on airports outside the immediate area and lack of a dedicated commercial airport slightly limits the score. DOMESTIC AIRPORT AND RAIL CONNECTIVITY (20/25): Strong domestic connectivity through Philadelphia International Airport with frequent services to major hubs including Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Charlotte, and Los Angeles. Newark Liberty International Airport provides comprehensive coverage to virtually every major U.S. market. Rail connectivity includes Cherry Hill Station on NJ Transit Atlantic City Line with 20-minute access to Philadelphia's 30th Street Station, connecting to Amtrak's Northeast Corridor (New York City in 90 minutes, Washington D.C. in 2 hours). The nearby Lindenwold PATCO station offers frequent high-speed rail to downtown Philadelphia and Camden. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS (16/25): Moderate public transportation infrastructure primarily relying on NJ Transit bus services connecting to Philadelphia and South Jersey. PATCO Hi-Speedline accessible from nearby Haddonfield and Lindenwold stations provides quick Philadelphia connections. However, Cherry Hill lacks internal metro or tram systems, and the suburban layout makes public transit less comprehensive than urban centers. The 24-square-mile suburban design necessitates supplementary transportation for venue-to-venue movement. ALTERNATIVE TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS (12/20): Good coverage of ride-sharing services (Uber and Lyft) for point-to-point transportation. Traditional taxi services available through local companies. Bike rental options and bike-sharing programs exist for shorter distances. Many hotels offer courtesy shuttles to Cherry Hill Mall, business centers, and local attractions. However, the car-oriented suburban design limits walkability between distant venues, reducing the effectiveness of alternative mobility solutions compared to more compact urban destinations.

How they're improving

ESTABLISH DEDICATED AIRPORT SHUTTLE NETWORK: Create a coordinated shuttle service connecting Cherry Hill hotels and venues directly to Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) with scheduled departures every 30-60 minutes during peak business travel times. MEASURABLE OUTCOME: Reduce average airport transfer time by 25%, increase business traveler satisfaction scores by 30%, and achieve 60% shuttle utilization rate within first year of operation. 2. ENHANCE INTERNAL CIRCULATOR BUS SYSTEM: Develop a dedicated Cherry Hill Business District Circulator connecting major hotels, convention venues, Cherry Hill Mall, business parks, and PATCO/NJ Transit stations with 15-minute frequency during business hours. Model after successful suburban circulators like the Emeryville Go-Round (California) or the Tyson's Corner Circulator, featuring GPS tracking, mobile apps, and clear branding. Include stops at all major meeting facilities and accommodate luggage for airport-bound travelers. MEASURABLE OUTCOME: Achieve 40% reduction in intra-destination taxi/rideshare costs for event attendees, increase public transit mode share from current levels to 25% for business events, and serve 500+ daily riders within 18 months. 3. Model after successful mobility hubs in Bellevue, Washington or Arlington, Virginia. Include covered waiting areas, charging stations, and concierge services for business travelers. Partner with mobility providers to offer event-specific discounts and corporate accounts. MEASURABLE OUTCOME: Consolidate 70% of alternative transportation pickups at hub locations, reduce average wait times by 40%, increase bike-share/micro-mobility usage by 200%, and achieve 85% business traveler awareness within first year. 5. Install pedestrian bridges or enhanced crossings at major intersections. Model after successful suburban walkability projects in places like The Woodlands, Texas or Reston, Virginia. Include distance markers, estimated walking times, and mobile app integration. MEASURABLE OUTCOME: Increase walkable venue-to-venue trips by 35%, reduce pedestrian crossing incidents to zero, achieve 50% of attendees rating walkability as 'good' or 'excellent' (up from current lower ratings), and create 3-5 miles of enhanced pedestrian corridors within 2 years.

The destination shows strong strategic planning with investments in park system expansion including Cooper River Park improvements for biodiversity and stormwater management, sustainable design standards in business districts, green infrastructure development, and mixed-use projects blending retail, office, and residential spaces. These initiatives position Cherry Hill for long-term sustainable growth while maintaining community character.

Walkability

Cherry Hill receives a walkability score of 62/100 based on the following criteria assessment:

Pedestrian Infrastructure (18/30 points): Cherry Hill demonstrates moderate pedestrian infrastructure with sidewalks along main thoroughfares and within planned developments. The Garden State Park Boulevard corridor and Cherry Hill Mall area feature ADA-compliant curb cuts, accessible routes, marked crosswalks, and traffic signals at key intersections. However, as a car-oriented suburban destination spanning 24 square miles, comprehensive pedestrian connectivity is limited, with significant gaps between districts requiring transportation rather than walking.

Urban Mobility Options (10/25 points): The text provides no evidence of bike-sharing, scooter-sharing, or micro-mobility solutions in Cherry Hill. The destination relies primarily on private vehicles and ride-sharing services, with accessible public transit mentioned but not detailed. This represents a significant gap in modern urban mobility infrastructure.

City Layout and Walkable Zones (17/25 points): Cherry Hill's suburban layout creates concentrated walkable zones around commercial centers like Cherry Hill Mall and Route 38 corridor, where hotels, restaurants, and business facilities cluster. Attendees can walk comfortably within specific complexes or nearby facilities. However, the 24-square-mile spread and car-oriented design make walking between distant venues impractical, requiring planned transportation for inter-area movement.

Local Tips for Getting Around (17/20 points): The destination provides clear guidance advising event planners that transportation arrangements are recommended between different areas. Specific walkable corridors are identified (Garden State Park Boulevard, Cherry Hill Mall area), and safety recommendations include staying within established commercial districts and using ride-sharing services at night. This practical wayfinding information helps visitors navigate effectively despite suburban constraints.

How they're improving

Establish Micro-Mobility Infrastructure in Commercial Corridors: Deploy bike-sharing and e-scooter stations at 8-10 strategic locations including Cherry Hill Mall, Garden State Park Boulevard, major hotels, and business centers along Route 38. Partner with providers like Lime or Bird to create a township-wide micro-mobility network with dedicated bike lanes connecting key event venues. Example: Arlington, VA implemented a similar suburban bike-share program that increased alternative transportation usage by 35% within 18 months. Measurable outcome: Achieve 500+ monthly micro-mobility trips within the first year, reducing short-distance car trips by 20%.
Create Dedicated Pedestrian Connector Pathways: Develop 3-5 miles of protected pedestrian and bicycle pathways linking major hotel clusters to event venues, restaurants, and the Cherry Hill Mall area. Install wayfinding signage every quarter-mile with walking time estimates and maps. Example: Tysons Corner, VA transformed from car-dependent suburb to walkable destination by adding 2.5 miles of protected pathways, increasing pedestrian traffic by 40%. Measurable outcome: Enable safe 10-15 minute walks between 75% of major event venues and nearby hotels, increasing pedestrian activity by 30%.
Implement Event District Shuttle Loop System: Launch a free circulator shuttle operating on 15-minute intervals connecting all major hotels, event venues, restaurants, and Cherry Hill Mall during business hours and events. Equip shuttles with real-time tracking apps and clear branding. Example: Schaumburg, IL's convention district shuttle increased attendee satisfaction scores by 25% and reduced parking demand by 18%. Measurable outcome: Achieve 80% awareness among event attendees and 1,000+ weekly riders, reducing internal destination car trips by 25%.
Develop Digital Wayfinding and Mobility Hub: Create a comprehensive Cherry Hill Events mobile app and website featuring interactive maps, walking routes, estimated times between venues, real-time shuttle tracking, and ride-sharing integration. Install 6-8 digital wayfinding kiosks at major intersections with touchscreen maps and transportation options. Example: Anaheim's digital wayfinding system increased visitor navigation confidence by 45% and reduced "lost visitor" inquiries by 30%. Measurable outcome: Achieve 60% app adoption among event attendees within two years and reduce venue-to-venue confusion by 40%.
Enhance Pedestrian Safety and Comfort Features: Upgrade 15-20 key intersections along event corridors with countdown pedestrian signals, high-visibility crosswalks, pedestrian refuge islands, and improved lighting. Add covered waiting areas and benches at major crossing points. Example: Bellevue, WA's pedestrian safety enhancements reduced pedestrian incidents by 50% and increased walking activity by 28%. Measurable outcome: Achieve zero pedestrian incidents in event districts and increase attendee walkability satisfaction ratings from current levels to 75%+ positive feedback.

Inclusiveness

Cherry Hill, New Jersey achieves a strong overall score of 85/100 for Inclusive and Accessible Business Tourism. ACCESSIBILITY OF PHYSICAL INFRASTRUCTURE (22/25): Cherry Hill demonstrates excellent physical accessibility with ADA-compliant venues and hotels featuring wheelchair-accessible entrances, elevators, and meeting spaces. The township's modern infrastructure includes curb cuts, accessible parking spaces, and well-maintained transportation networks with improvements to major arterial roads. Recent infrastructure investments include modernization of commercial areas and enhanced connectivity to Interstate 295 and the New Jersey Turnpike. Minor deductions reflect the lack of specific detail about sidewalk conditions throughout the township and accessibility features in older commercial districts. INCLUSIVITY POLICIES AND PRACTICES (22/25): The destination excels in inclusive services with accessible guest rooms offering roll-in showers, visual alert systems, and accommodations for guests with disabilities. Public transit services are designed to accommodate individuals with mobility challenges. Event facilities provide comprehensive dietary accommodations including kosher, halal, vegetarian, and allergen-free options, demonstrating cultural and religious inclusivity. The slight deduction accounts for limited information about specific inclusive transportation providers or certification programs. PROVISION OF INFORMATION AND SUPPORT SERVICES (20/25): Cherry Hill performs well with venues arranging assistive listening devices, sign language interpreters, and materials in alternative formats upon request. Hospitality professionals are trained in inclusive practices and work proactively with event planners. However, the score reflects the absence of specific information about accessible website features, multilingual guides, accessible signposting systems, or dedicated accessibility information centers that would elevate service delivery. BUSINESS-FRIENDLY SERVICES FOR VISITORS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS (21/25): Conference facilities and business hotels demonstrate strong capability in accommodating travelers with accessibility requirements. Recent renovations and expansions of hotel and conference facilities in the Route 70 corridor have increased accessible meeting space capacity. High-speed fiber optic networks support assistive technology needs. The destination shows commitment through trained staff who ensure full participation of all attendees regardless of physical ability, cultural background, or dietary requirements.

How they're improving

While Cherry Hill demonstrates strong accessibility performance with a score of 85/100, there are strategic opportunities to elevate the destination to outstanding status by enhancing information accessibility and expanding proactive accessibility communication. ENHANCE DIGITAL ACCESSIBILITY AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS: Develop a comprehensive accessibility portal on the Cherry Hill tourism website featuring detailed accessibility information for all venues, hotels, and attractions. This should include interactive accessibility maps showing curb cuts, accessible parking locations, and barrier-free routes between key business districts. Create downloadable accessibility guides in multiple formats (PDF, audio, large print) and languages. Example: Follow the model of Visit Seattle's accessibility page which provides filterable venue listings by specific accessibility features and downloadable neighborhood accessibility maps. ESTABLISH A CERTIFIED ACCESSIBILITY AMBASSADOR PROGRAM: Launch a formal training and certification program for hospitality staff, venue managers, and transportation providers focused on disability awareness, inclusive communication, and emergency procedures for guests with diverse needs. Create a visible 'Accessibility Ambassador' designation that travelers can identify at hotels, conference centers, and visitor information points. This program should include annual recertification and updates on emerging accessibility technologies and best practices. Partner with local disability advocacy organizations to develop and validate training content. Measurable outcome: Aim for 100% of business event venues and 80% of hotels to have certified accessibility ambassadors within 18 months. IMPLEMENT PROACTIVE ACCESSIBILITY COORDINATION SERVICES: Establish a dedicated accessibility concierge service that event planners can contact before arrival to arrange specific accommodations, conduct pre-event site visits, and coordinate specialized services. This service should maintain relationships with local providers of assistive equipment, sign language interpreters, accessible transportation, and specialized dietary caterers. Create a standardized accessibility assessment checklist that venues complete and update quarterly, making this information readily available to meeting planners. Example: The Minneapolis Convention Center's 'Accessibility Services Coordinator' model provides a single point of contact who manages all accessibility requests and conducts pre-event walkthroughs. EXPAND ACCESSIBLE TRANSPORTATION INFRASTRUCTURE DOCUMENTATION: Conduct and publish a comprehensive accessibility audit of public transportation routes connecting hotels, venues, and key business districts. Work with transit providers to ensure real-time accessibility information is available through mobile apps, including elevator/ramp status, accessible vehicle arrival times, and alternative accessible routes. Install clear, tactile wayfinding signage at major transportation hubs and business districts with both visual and braille information. Develop partnerships with accessible ride-share and specialized transportation providers, creating a preferred vendor list with pre-negotiated rates for business event attendees. Measurable outcome: Achieve 95% uptime reporting for accessible transportation features and reduce accessibility-related transportation complaints by 50% within one year.

Business dress code

For business events in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, attendees should opt for professional business attire that reflects the region's corporate culture and moderate climate. Men typically wear suits in navy, charcoal, or gray with dress shirts and conservative ties, while women choose tailored suits, professional dresses, or blazers with dress pants or skirts. Given New Jersey's four-season climate, layering is advisable—lightweight fabrics for summer events and heavier materials with appropriate outerwear for winter gatherings. Cherry Hill, as part of the greater Philadelphia metropolitan area, maintains fairly traditional business standards, so conservative and polished looks are recommended for formal events, while business casual (dress slacks with collared shirts or blouses) may be appropriate for less formal networking functions or outdoor summer events. Casual dress & local style

For casual dressing in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, visitors should opt for comfortable, smart-casual attire that reflects the suburban American East Coast style. During spring and fall, layering is key—think jeans or khakis paired with polo shirts, blouses, or light sweaters, as temperatures can fluctuate throughout the day. Summer calls for breathable fabrics like cotton shorts, sundresses, casual pants, and short-sleeved shirts, though it's wise to keep a light cardigan handy for air-conditioned venues. Winter requires warm layers including jeans, sweaters, comfortable boots, and a good jacket or coat to handle the cold temperatures and occasional snow. Cherry Hill maintains a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere typical of suburban New Jersey, so casual attire is widely accepted at most restaurants, shopping areas like the Cherry Hill Mall, and local attractions, though business casual might be preferred for upscale dining or corporate events. Essential items include all necessary business documents, electronics (laptop, chargers, phone), business cards, and any presentation materials or tools specific to your event. Don't forget personal items such as toiletries, any required medications, and appropriate identification including a driver's license or passport for air travel.
